Red Diesel Fuel ???

So Im wondering what is Red Diesel Fuel and why is its so much cheaper than diesel 2? I used 5 gallons once when that was all there was to me home, was that bad for my engine or just fine?

That's offroad diesel that isn't taxed. Do not get caught running that in your truck on open highway.

Big time fine.

What Scott said, do not get caught with it in your rig.

Yup - like everyone else said. Its offroad diesel - To be used in tractors, constructions equipment, generators, and heaters. If i recall its Higher sulfur content ... Correct me if im wrong! (which would be better for your engine)

It can be both, and should be labled as such. It really depends on where you live, and what refineries and distribution plants are available. Some areas still continue to mostly use LSD for off-highway diesel, other areas are using more ULSD.

In case anyone was wondering, the red dye is nothing more than that, dye. It's so the fuel can be easily identified, especially if 5-oh is dipping your tank. Also the reason off-highway diesel is cheaper is because it isn't taxed.
