I am seriously considering it, I have a 31 foot Airstream, but this park charges for each child and I have 3 that would be with me. Have not had a chance to discuss it with the wife yet. Will depend on financises.
It is one of the weekends that we planned on going, thats a plus
We told the youngens that we would bring them down there, thats a plus
I have found that more and more parks are beginning to charge for children. It actually helps keep costs down for those that don't have kids...but those of us with kids must pay more...
Are you a Good Sam's member?
How old are the kids?
We had kids from 2 thru 16 or 17 last year...lots of fun for sure...
Have you seen the YouTube video I put together from the rally?
Joe.

Most parks dont charge for the first 2 or 3 even the other parks in that area,
They are 9, 7, 7, there is a 3 year old but she is not traveling with us yet.
I used to be but let it expire for awhile, once we get the camper back from repairs where we are able to go again I will renew our membership.
I've found many of the Good Sam's parks we stay at across the country had begun charging for kids...I thought that was becoming more common as we have stayed at about 15 Good Sam's parks the last 2 years and almost all of them have charged for kiddo's...
If you would like a killer coupon to join Good Sam's let me know. I have a coupon that costs you $33 for a 3 year membership BUT with that membership you get a $25 coupon that you can use for one night of camping...so a 3 year membership costs you $8 and you get 10% off at all Good Sam's parks...just PM me an email address and I'll send you the coupon...

This thing with no kids started out in Arizona and Calif with those people who A)have money, B) buy high dollar units, C)have no kids or can afford to send their kids to private schools and such.
Many camp grounds started to adopt this policy so attract that crowd. Well many places have gone out of business because of that sort of thinking because the ones that spent the money was no longer coming.
If this is something Good Sam Club (GSC) is going to endorse and be anti-family, then I want nothing to do with GSC. After all freinds & family is the biggest reason for camping getting all the freinds together with their kids and let the kids play together so the adults can have their time.
Not intending to debate the merits of campground fees...but the way I look at these fees is kind of like fuel surcharges and all the other fees that have crept into our lives these past few years...unfortunately the economy is a tough one and in order for some businesses to survive these things that annoy us (and yes being charged extra for my kids does annoy me) must be tolerated or we simply won't be able to do anything if we let these things get to us.
I think an 'average' campsite fee should be charged if you ask me but what do I know.
Being charged extra for kids is kind of akin to retired folks not having to pay school taxes just because they don't have kids in school...we aren't a complete pay as you go society...but campgrounds...just like all other businesses can charge what ever the market will bear...if people stop using campgrounds that charge for kids...I'm sure the fee structure will change...but for now...for me...it really doesn't bother me enough to not go to Twin Creek as they treated us fantastic last year...but I can certainly understand your point and for the most part agree with you 100% in principle but like I said...I've learned to tolerate this little annoyance in life here lately.

Eh, just my .02 cents but, just like a motel/hotel/Inn or theatre, you pay for each person that enters the doors.
I don't do nearly the amount of camping you do buddy, so your take on it comes from years of experience, but to me, if I had a campsite I owned, I'd be looking at hotel/motel charges and think to myself, "Why wouldn't I charge for kids too."
After a certain age, of course.
I dunno, is that a taboo thing for campsites to do?

Exactly how much would it cost to come? Just Me and just for this event. I'm trying to go but I have minimal funds. Also, do I have to come with a parent because I'm under 18?
While we would love to have all the Excursion folks we can...Personally I would not encourage minors to travel by themselves.
First off I would bet it to be near impossible for you to find someplace that will rent you a room as a minor.
So if you can't get a parent to come with you I would ask you to wait until you turn 18...I fully expect us to have our 3rd annual in 2010 (location yet to be determined)...
As a parent myself...I wouldn't want my children to be unsupervised that far from home so I hope you understand and don't take this wrong...

I have been trying to get some goodies from dealers around here but things are tight and you are not buying they are not giving. Still keep trying.
I guess I need a photo album to take with me to prove to them we are for real.
