That sounds like a great idea. I know there was talk this year about Cades Cove. That is a beautiful drive but will take a good part of the day. Maybe a cruise from the campground thru Gatlinburg and back. That would be short enough to be able to do other activities. I really loved the trip from the racetrack this year but we got pretty spread out. Me and the wife took the little cruise thru the mountain from east Gatlinburg that comes out near the campground. Maybe we go from the campground to gatlinburg then right to Pigeon Forge just a few blocks then back to Gatlinburg thru it and up on that ride thru the woods and back to the campground. I can do a dry run sometime to see how long it would take.

The air tank is progressing well but I think the pump is a bit small. Still chipping away at a good system.

Keep workin on it!!

Barney and I came back home through the NC mountains and found a great area for pictures of a sunset and when we reached the peak there were Elk out grazing! The Elk were put there 10 years ago and have been thriving . Park Rangers are there because the Elk come out everyday at the same time so we would see them for sure. Barney thinks its about 31.5 miles from the campsite . we could go through Cherokee for the kids and do some real gem mining ..

We went to Cades Cove this past year and it was awsome! I would highly reconmend that we plan an early morning trip there, they say the earlier you go, the better wildlife viewing there is... not to mention it would be cool to see a long line of SD'd winding thru the mountains.

Hey Beth... how's Barney? I can't wait to put him in the wall again at the track!

I guess it all depends on how long of a drive we want. I just went to Cherokee this weekend and the weather was great. Anyway we can do Cades cove and back especially if we start early. You know gotta get back before the adult frost beverages get cold. The G-burg to P-Forge and back could be done in an hour or two. Cades cove will be, depending on traffic, maybe 6 hours. I would go there this weekend on a dry run for you guys but with the leaves changing it would be a 10 hour trip for me. Dang tourists. LOL

On another note I think we could find a go-cart course that was alot closer and probably cheaper. Some have more than cars so the kids could have their fun too. Just a thought. Whaddya think on that guys?

Um, I think those diesel fumes also affect memory.

OK - I could go on forever, but I don't want this thread to go crazy like it did last year. So I guess we'll have to wait 9 months and see... no wait, someone could take that the wrong way... I mean, we'll have to wait until July at the rally and see.

I didn't know Beth was expecting???...hmmm...haha...JK...

You guys are hilarious!

I told the oil burners that we would take out their spark plugs on the Go-Karts since they claim they don't need them...and you know what...no one took us up on it!

As you can tell...we have FUN at these events...I do hope that folks that were thinking about it last year give it a try this year...and this year I hope to be able to even drink!

But Mark is right...we have to respect the thread and not go crazy since off topic (even though it is Gatlinburg related) posts can make this post grow very large and folks thinking about joining the rally don't really want to read 10 pages of stuff...heck...they can read about it in the linked thread I posted in my first post above...not to shut off good natured rally discussions mind you...

Some of the ideas are GREAT...I wanted to get the folks all together to take a cruise...even just thru down town G-burg...hopefully with folks staying a little longer this year that can be accomplished...

All in all we had a GREAT time...I have never seen folks click so nicely that had never met before.

I put it this way in an email to those that attended the rally.

What started as a group of otherwise strangers forming a meet for Excursion nuts...quickly turned into a group of close nit camping FRIENDS...

and that my friends is God's touch...

I hope everyone can join us.

Joe.

NOT FUNNY!!!

Back to our topic please!

Did we talk about a get together at a ford dealer last year? That might be kind of cool......I know we turned some heads when we were all driving together. Might be a fun "classic X show" for a ford dealer...

Boy you changed the subject on that one quickly! LOL

Anyway Joe asked me about dealers in that area. Good idea Beth. I don't think there are many if any dealers in G-burg. I will look in P-Forge, I do know there are some in Newport. That is up the highway to the Interstate.
We will definately have to have one that is ready for us because of the size of our crowd they will need plenty of parking. Man this is getting fun!

I like the idea of going thru G-burg and into P-Forge and back as a cruise. That way we can be seen and noticed. Cades cove would be nice too but not as many people to notice us. Maybe we can start off thru the towns and loop back and the ones that want to go to Cades Cove can and the ones who just want a short trip will drop out on the way back thru.
Just a thought.

I will keep working on this and trying to come up with ideas.
