I'm VERY proud of Cory! He was a big boy and had his seat belt on!!! It must have been a real scary ride!!
Safety first, I should have grabbed my hard hat and safety glasses out of my truck, just in case.

Ray is aka "Cupcake", next time you see him ask him if you can have a Q-tip, he'll know what you mean.

Well just a quick update on my situation...we just returned home to Indiana on Saturday July 25th at ~11:30pm after 2 full weeks in NJ. Dad's funeral was on Friday July 17th and it went very well. It was dad's kind of day...sunny and 90°! We also had to completely clean out dad's house since my mom passed back in 2007. We literally spent every waking moment either cleaning something or painting rooms in the house getting it ready to list with the real estate agent. I felt so bad for my two little girls since they were basically held captive while we did our stuff. But we accomplished what I set out to do...the house is cleaned out, painted and listed!
We did hit the beach for the girls on Saturday morning for a few hours. We then went to my sisters house to clean up before turning west for the 11hour drive...so the girls got a little time in the sun.
I would like to thank everyone for their heart felt messages during this very difficult time in my families life. Unfortunately this is part of life and we are not the first to go thru this but your support really means a lot to all of us...so THANK YOU!
It sure looks like we missed out on another 'typical' Ford Truck Rally!...this event is two for two and I'm sure it will continue in this fashion in the years to come...I'll have to get the G2 from Mike when I talk to him tonight for our debrief on the rally...but it sure looks like a great time was had by all. I hope everyone liked the T-shirts and goodie bags...I'm sorry I couldn't ship all the other goodies down that I had but I was scrambling to get what I sent...I know you understand. I've got that much more for next years rally!...speaking of next year...any ideas?...I know I have some...but I want to hear the attendee's inputs first.
That picture of the train sure is 'special'...in a couple of ways actually
I want to thank Mike and Joyce for stepping in as hosts for the rally...and all the others that made it go as smoothly as it appears to have gone...a group effort really helps out and this group is full of GIVERS...so thanks to all!
I'm sorry I didn't get to meet all the new folks but I expect to see you and your families next year...plus everyone else from last year...so we have some catching up to do!
I'm looking forward to hearing all the details of the rally. Everyone that attended has my email address if you want to 'share' any info (hehe)
Take care and I'm glad everyone had a GREAT TIME!...
Joe.

I just crunched the numbers for the trip and here is what I have...
We traveled a total of 4,046 miles and used 431.41 gallons of gas, at a cost of $985.16 - or abour $0.24 per mile driven. The average cost per gallon was $2.33, a lot better than last year at this time. I averaged 13.25 MPG with out towing and 7.99 MPG mixed towing/empty (lowest towing MPGs per tank was 5.17, higest 8.54).
Conclusion...
---Cost of gas to visit the East Coast - $985.16
---Cost of campground/hotel fees for 16 nights - $425.00 (we stayed for free with Family)
---Cost of time spent with Family and Friends... PRICELESS!
