Lifetime Chevy man here, with my first Ford. Funny how that works. I was looking for a nice, heavy duty diesel dually to tow my 18' equipment flat bed and wound up with a '92 F-450.

The truck had an aftermarket crew cab and pickup box on it when I got it and just didn't look right at all. I cut all that nonsense off the back of it and found a good used Reading 12' grain body dump to mount on it.

From what I can tell, the truck may have originally had a wrecker body on it. The guy I bought it from said it has a welder's body on it when he got it and he put the crew cab/pickup body on it to use as a race car hauler. Looks like this is at least the 4th incarnation of this beast. At 135K miles on a 7.3L diesel and automatic, I think it's got lots of life left in it.

I've been taking a lot of time to fix stupid things that have long been neglected, like improperly repaired brake lines and also pulling "miles" of unused wiring harnesses out of the truck, from all of its previous lives. I also had to fabricate an entirely new hinge for the dump body, both the clevis on the truck frame and the hinges on the dump body.

Right now, I've got a thread up in the Super Duty forum about replacing the bearings in my steering column, so if you can add something to that, I'd appreciate it!

See you around the forums!

-Paul

Just want to say hey to SD area have been in the f150 area for a little while now.

Traded my 05fx4screw 4x4 in for an 03 F250 4D FX4 6.0 last week has only 37000 miles.
Have many questions cause this is my first diesel truck, well just a few.

Bought my truck to haul my jeeps all over the country cause the 5.4 at 101,000 was starting to well you know. Rockcrawling is pretty much all I do. But boy do I love this truck.

Well headed over to ask my questions. And actually have already had some answered since Ive been on here for a couple of hours now reading.

Bumping up with my intro....

Hi all

My name is Kevin and i am me... I have always been me, at least as far back as I can remember.

My partner and I just bought a new, (to us), 1993 F250 XLT 4X4.
We're going on a multi month trailer towing adventure through the northwest this late summer and fall and, I need to get up to speed on diesel maintenance and repair. I'm a good DIY mechanic but, this is my first diesel.

Which is why I'm here.

I have also joined the Southern California user group here.... Woohoo, So. Cal. Rocks!!

I am about to set into the fluid changing and some creative DIY mods to help with this endeavor so, any tips, tricks or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I guess I'll get back to my irregularly unscheduled lurking.....

Hello, I'm Daniel and have looked in this forum for years joined before, but after divorce lost sign and past word. Had to rejoin never posted a lot any how. I now drive an 05' EX with a 6.8 it has 75k. I seem to be pretty happy with it to this point only had it for 6 months and put 11k on it so far. I also had a 7.3 03' Ex that gave up the got in SD with 200+k on it. The only ford I didn't enjoy was my 08' 6.4 PSD but ford liked it so much that they bought it back with interest thank God.

HELP!! I joined this forum after searching for web sites that could give me info about my 2006 F250 engine failure. The dealer is saying the Ford will not warrant the repair due my having used a "non Ford" oil filter. The truck has 65K on it and the oil changes were done by various quick oil and lube centers. Any information would be most helpful.

New to site

Just joined and thought i'd introduce myself, names Jim and I drive a '84 F150 4x4 that my oldest boy will soon inherit, I'll be driving my late fathers '78 F100 2wd until I find that perfect truck for myself. But the reason I'm posting in this section is my wife's 2000 F250 V10, 6" lift, 35" BFG's thats having trouble with the 4wd, Great site with lots of answers to questions I didn't even know I had yet.

Hi all. My name is Mike. I am from South Central Iowa. I own a 1996 f250. 127,000 miles on it. I purchased it from my Grandmother after my Grandfather past away(for a really great price). Anyways, I just started having a problem and I hope you are able to help.
I my pu is a 2X4 with the 7.5L (460), E4OD trans. When I brought it home, I noticed the speedo bounced erratically. Sometimes to 0 (when running 70mph) and sometimes would bounce 5-10 mph and. It would affect the cruise control once in awhile (kicking it off) then maybe truck would briefly surge. It seemed to stop after awhile. The ABS light is on, and now the trans acts like it's being kicked into neutral when it's shifting from 2nd to 3rd. But when trans temp is good and hot, it doesn't do it and speedometer might bounce 3-5mph, if at all.
I have changed trans fluid and filter and there wasn't anything out of the ordinary in it.
Thought I would check with you guys the Ford GODS first b4 I start buying uneeded parts. (I did ck this site for info and I think I've narrowed it down to either the trans speed sensor, output shaft sensor, ABS sensor, range sensor(MLPS) or the speed sensor)
