New to diesel

Howdy,

owned Ford gassers all my life. Need and want to upgrade to a twofitty diesel.

Gotta tote this bike around.

I know there's some controversy 'twix the 7.3 and 6.0 , I didn't find anything in the d.b.

Any thoughts appriciated.

Maynard

I'm New & Need a Lot of Help w/my Rig!!!

I'm new here, I think I"ve browsed trying to find some answer to my piece*****. But now I've joined to hopefully get it running.

Got it on a trade a 1981 F250 ~ I'm not a mechanic (everything else as a mom), but my hubby and I have changed head gasket, it is fixed. Bought all parts for a 302 found out it is a 400.

And more problems!!!

But I better browse to see where to post my questions.

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for all the help...I'll sure need it!

I have been lurking here for a few weeks now. This is a great site with a lot of information. I have been researching various F250/350 models and this site has been a godsend for information.

Hey there, I have been lurking here for years, in fact I was here and somewhere in the mix, my login got wiped. I used to post some back in 2002-2004. Anyway, I'm back and have always enjoyed this site. I have been able to use it to solve many problems and to also circumvent problems. Since I have 3 Ford trucks from 2001 on up, my interest is great.

Intro

Found this site while doing research to buy new 09 F350 6.4L PSD crew cab long bed a couple of weeks ago. Have been impressed with and appreciative of the willingness of those with knowledge and experience to share with others.

My first Ford truck was a 1967 half ton used for work as a bricklayer while going to college and a couple of years after. Short break when I first moved to Juneau, Alaska and owned no vehicle. Owned several since. Now retired and just bought first diesel truck to use for hunting, camping, traveling comfortably around the country.

Owned a diesel boat for 20 years but it's a very simple naturally-aspirated engine and I find the prospects of the PSD a bit daunting so appreciate all the information and willingness of others to share it I've found here.

Another newbie

Hey. New to the site. Bought a retired 2003 Border Patrol truck last fall. All things considered, it's low mileage - 135,000. Been slowly refitting, as they drive the snot out of them. Planning a few different projects for it: lift, tires, some new bumpers. I only average about 5000 miles yearly on a vehicle, as I have a company vehicle for my daily commute.

Already asking questions in the forum.

new guy

hi folks! I've recently discovered this forum and love it. So much great info. I have a 2001 f250 7.3l diesel with 170,000 miles. I love the truck but am on my FOURTH transmission! I don't understand why especially because I drive it gently without any towing or weight. Is this a common problem? Also recently the truck just shuts off without any warning. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Exhaust question 6.0 Diesel 250 2004

Hello,
I just brought a 2004 6.0 F250 Diesel. My question is will it be of any benfit to remove the cat? Will removing it cause the "check engine light to come on"? I would like to install a 4" turbo back exhaust system but cant afford that right now so I was thinking taking the cat off and installing a peice of pipe in its place and keeping the stock system for now would be better than nothing. Is it worth my trouble?
Thanks
