NEW MEMBER Introduction Thread (NO TECH QUESTIONS)
New to FTE
I stumbled upon your website while looking for a solution to a problem. I have owned several Ford Rangers but I always wanted one with the extended cab, flare side, 4 X 4, 3.0 and automatic. Well I found one, a 1999, and as usual, the owner wanted too much, but accepted my low ball offer anyway. The transmission failed half way home and I had to get it moved on a flat bed trailer. I had the transmission rebuilt and finally drove it home, 9 weeks after I bought it. Yesterday I changed the oil and filter, and air filter. Coming back for a quick trip the left side power window wouldn't go up, so here I am looking to find a solution. I pulled the rubber boot back between the cab and the door, and there wasn't any damaged wires there. I looked at a You tube video that showed how to remove the door panel, that was easy. I checked the switch, but with out a schematic, I'm not sure if the switch is good or not. The rivets are still attaching the motor and regulator, so I guess it's original and the Ranger has 186K miles. My guess it's either the switch or the motor. Does anyone know which has the highest failure rate?
Satx,
That is so awesome!!! My explorer has got some high mileage on it, she takes good care of us and is all I got right now. One day I'll have another vehicle and retire her, when I do I'm going to want to really put some work into the explorer and keep her going, she's worth it!

GalBobbie,
Fyi, I recently bought a "very low mileage", one-owner 1986 XLT Lariat 6.9 diesel PU, that has been stored in a hay-barn for 11 years & "forgotten" to restore to "factory stock". - MANY members here have offered me great/EXPERT advice, help & support in "resurrecting" the old Lariat.
(NICE FOLKS here, imo.)
Hopefully, within 30 days, it will be FINISHED, licensed as an antique vehicle & "on the road".
yours, satx

GalBobbie,
Fwiw, I was simply LUCKY. = I collect antique boats & since I retired I have time to "poke about" for more. - I found "BIG UGLY" by purest accident, while "following a lead" on a 1950s glass ski-boat.
(My real "addiction:" is to finding & restoring small/independent boat-builder's products. - Right now, I have TWO 1950s hulls awaiting restoration that are "one of one". = Camp County (TX) Boat Works completed ONE hull before going bankrupt & I found it "under a pile of junk & trash" in my northeast TX hometown. That one is "all in one piece" but needs "everything" to ever be "right".)
During my "travels" while seeking antique boats, I frequently find low-mileage Ford trucks & in rust-free condition. - Should you or any other member be seeking one, I can "keep an eye out" for your wish-list.

New to the Ford world 1973 F100
Hello Everyone,
I am rebuilding a 1973 F100 2WD with a 302 (still checking) and a RAB-L2 EEBD 5081 transmission. It is a father son project with a humble budget. We just pulled the cab off and have a clean chassis now. I joined this form to learn about the Ford ins and out while we build this truck.
I will have a lot of questions on getting the right parts. For example: transmission, engine and rebuild kits, suspension parts, adding power steering and power brakes (has disk on the front), carburetors.
We are going to keep the truck as close to stock as possible. If anyone can point me in the right direction please let me know. I look forward to learning on this forum.
Chris.

Chris2527,
WELCOME ABOARD.
You should look for the HAYNES and CHILTON's repair manuals for that truck model. - I think that that manual may be "out of print" but I suspect that Amazon or one of the other "resellers" will have one. - The HAYNES & CHILTON's manuals usually have diagrams for the "correct to year" parts.
