Hi Jeff,
This may sound a little odd, but you could also conduct "personal interviews" with folks on this site!
If you have your papers outline complete, you could start a thread for each topic, then pick and choose from the inputs that come up.
You could ask about the evolution of the trucks; economic and marketing factors; technical evolution, engines, and of course restoration. Then you can use the posts as the reference in your bibliography!
BUT, no matter what you do, DONT' - DON'T ask ANYBODY if they think Ford Trucks are better than Chevies - Don't - just don't do it - trust me.
I also have a book that was fairly inexpensive and has lots of good stuff - not too much though, and lots of good pictures. It's called: "Classic Ford F-Series pick-up trucks: 1948-1956" by Don Bunn, and published by MBI Publishing. ISBN-1378-0-7603-0483-9.
Good luck - write lots to this lot...they'll help you!
Julie!

Its a vast subject 48-66 wow! Ok here are a couple points to get started. 1948 was the first year trucks used the "F" designation F1 and in 53 it was changed to F100.
53 was the last year for the flathead v8 engine.
54 first year Y block engine 239 cu in
56 was the first year for 12 volt electric system. AND the BIGWINDOW OPTION!
57 was the first year for the removable carrier 9 inch rear end
59 was the first year FORD produced their own 4x4, prior it was farmed out to marmon herrington
61 was the introduction of the "unibody" (bed and cab as one ) this ran for 3 years 61, 62 and 63.
64 was the last year for the y block and straight frt axle.
65 first year twin I beam suspension and FE series engines.
