Tire size - Was I scamed ?
I think I was taken for a ride, I am not up on tire sizes and what all of the mesurements mean, so I need some help.
I purchased 4 16 X 8 Wheels and 4 265/70R 16 Pirelli ST tires.
Well, I just noticed that the tires on my truck are 235/70R 16.
What is the difference between the two tires? Are the 265 Tires wider? and would they cost more?
What should I do?

you bought bigger tires. the 265/70/16 in inches are 30.6 inches tall and 10.4 inches wide so they are pretty much 31 10.50's. the 235/70/16 in inches are 29 inches tall and 9.3 inches wide. so thier pretty much 29 9's.

Tire size - Was I scamed ?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Dec-02 AT 12:30 PM (EST)]Metric-sized tires tell you the intended application (P=passenger; LT=light truck), the nominal treadwidth in millimeters (235mm; 365mm), the aspect ratio (sidewall height divided by treadwidth times 100; "70"=sidewall height is 70% the treadwidth), and rim size (R16= 16" rim). But those are all NOMINAL, not ACTUAL. The actual size varies slightly by application depending on rim width, vehicle weight, tire model & brand, and even the alignment can have a slight effect. For some actual numbers, check http://www.tirerack.com/tires/index.jsp - they give actual heights & widths for most tires and tell you the rim that it was measured on. You can find an inch difference in the actual heights of 2 tires with the same nominal size.
If you paid for 265s and got 235s, you were robbed - go back & inform them of their mistake. If they give you any flak, offer to call the BBB, the chamber of commerce, their national office, the tire mfr's hotline, and the local DA.
But look at your receipt first - if it says 235s, then you shouldn't have signed it. If you want the bigger tires, go back & ask them if they'll swap you to the others if you pay the difference.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Dec-02 AT 06:36 PM (EST)]After threating to call the BBB and Pirelli I was able to get what I paid for. These companies who think they can just F**k with me, will get what they deserve!! Even though the company came through I am still reporting them. BTY: It is "Volco Tires" located on Bridgeport road in Richmond BC Canada. http://www.volcotires.com so don't deal with these idiots!! they are jerks!

Tire size - Was I scamed ?
BTW: This is what I posted to their BBS
A few weeks ago, I came in and paid for a complete Tire and wheel package in CASH. I wanted the 265-70-16 tires and you gave me 235-70-16 and was only able to get the tires that I paid for after threating to call the BBB and Pirelli.
You also told me that it was not stock and that you wouldnt do it. I guess those Honda's in your parking lot have stock tires and wheels hey?? Don't think so!! Just another lame excuse to try to get your way.
My reciept said 265 tires, and you even went as far as printing a new reciept with 235's on it!! What a bunch of scamming kids you are!! Well, guess what?? after yelling at you and getting my way, even though you said the tires should not fit, THEY FIT!!! No rubbing and tons of clearance!!! Get it together boys.

Good for you dude! Strength comes in numbers! We are americans and should not put up with bulls@#T like that! It`s principal. I cant stand people that just take S*&t with out standing up no matter if it takes a little BBB call or warning people on these forums. I wont be doing business with them. I had my Superduty in the body shop from some offroading damage i did to it and they sucked. I about choke slammed the guy after dealing with them for a month because they cant paint worth crap and didnt even get my door straight the first time. It is all good now. Another guy went there after me and got some #####ty work done after i told him not to go there. He just let them walk all over him (weak ***) and didnt confront them on the matter. SO DONT GO TO CLOVIS AUTO BODY IN NEW MEXICO GUYS. Sorry just felt like venting.

Well, I don't have to be American to stand up for my self you know EH I am Canadian and we have the same problem with spineless butt munchers that don't stand up for them selves here to. Just do what you know is right and stand up for what you believe in. Now if that last line was a blockbuster movie produced in the US, we would all be chanting USA! USA! USA! USA! heehe had to get that in.....
