and why do you need to do more than 97mph??

anywho, some tuners like the SCT Xcal has an option to raise the limiter as high as 125mph...

You can get tuners to change that, but the top speed is based on several factors, Speed rating of your tires and your powertrain rbending resoances. This is based on the powertrain configuration. Exceeding the top speed can cause the powertrain to go into a resonance and cause catastrophic failure.

over 100 mph you have 2 things to worry about

1. tires aren't rated for that speed
2. the driveshaft isn't balances for those speeds - it will break at 100+ on you

i want video, but i don't want to be anywhere near that truck when parts start flying... Ford tough or not, no factory production truck is built for that.

Call me boring, but i do not think a full size (standard) pickup has any bussiness going over 90mph.I am not famoliar with it, but mede consider a lightning model, perhaps they are setup differently?

yep, the Lightning is effectively a different truck from a normal F-150

My old Ford 1980 3/4 ton with a 300 straight 6.... hit 110 mph (petal to the metal) on long trips on I90. I ruined many UJoints, but never broke apart while driving.

From Post Falls, Id to Seattle, WA.You can go the speed limit (65mph) and drive for 5.5 hours, Or go 110mph and get there in 2.25 hours. That of course if you don't get pulled over, go to jail, break your drive train, or wreck and kill yourself or someone else.

If you get caught going over 100mph these days, you will go to jail and lose your drivers license. The prosecuting attorney and the judge will have no symphony on you. I would leave your top speed alone. Unless you chase tornadoes, hurricanes, or you are a felon that feels that putting other peoples lives at danger is all part of the fun.

But I will tell you this. If you do drive wreck less and severely injure or kill one of my family members, I swear you will have the same done to you! But that just depends on how this government punishes you, or if I feel justice is done, or if I think your soul is punishing you worse than anyone could.

Go ahead and get a programmer to remove the preset limit on your truck. That is your choice. I would then recommend that #1) Go to a driving school such as is offered here; Racing Schools - RacingSchools.Com #2) You move to Germany where you can run in excess of 100mph and the other drivers are experienced with high speed driving. #3) Move to one of the states with wide open spaces such as Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana or Wyoming. #4) Be sure to sign your organ donor card. BTW I have removed the limit on my van using my Superchips programmer. I also was trained to drive an ambulance in Germany. I have yet to find a reason to drive above 95mph in America.

Top speed of the drive shaft depends a lot on the configuration of the truck. The shorter drive shafts can take a lot more. My truck has been as fast as 135 on pavement (on a track ) and close to 160 on the dyno.

Unless you have tires and a suspension built for speeds, I wouldn't be driving fast if I were you.

Mine pegs out at 96.6, according to my Garmin gps. My full size e250 conversion will do 117. I dunno, maybe we're just stupid or something, but I was the same way about my Sebring Convertible--if all of them in the world shut off at 97, I wanna go 99, ok? Not that I'd try it that often, or anything, but you never know when James Bond is going to pop out of a corn field (where he crashed his ultralight), commandeer your truck to stop some mad man from blowing up something really important. Warnings heeded; tires, harmonics, etc., but........
