rear end or other E100 parts

Newbie here but not new to 61-67 Econolines by any means. I ve got several parts trucks here near Cincinnati,Ohio and may have a small rear end with a better ratio than what you have now. Its probably easiest to swap the whole assembly at once on a small one but if it was a nine inch I would just swap out the gears since its much simpler. Anybody needing E100 parts feel free to email me direct at Econousaparts@fuse.net

Jersey Shore surf truck

Hey 62surftruck,
Where are you located at the Jersey Shore.
I'm right outside Atlantic City.
Years ago I had a 1970 Maverick with a 170ci and 3-on the tree.
It had a 3.00 rear, or close to that. It wasn't too bad nornal driving around Jersey. It would do 65 OK at a nice low RPM, but passing anything above 50 was tough.
Theres a guy near me that set up my new gears for $100.
I brought him the pumpkin assy and new gears.
Good luck, Doug

7" rear axle / 7 1/4" rear axle / 9" rear axle.

To determine which rear axle you have, please post the AXLE code from the Warranty Plate.

If a 9" rear axle, the gears are EZ to find.

If one of the others, the gears may be impossible or difficult to find.

Ford didn't offer for Econolines with a 7" or 7 1/4" rear axle, anythng other than 3.50-1 or 4.00-1 gears.

However, the 7 1/4" rear axle was also used in some of the 1962/68 Fairlanes, 1965/70 Mustangs, 1960/70 Falcons and 1970 Mavericks.

These cars offered the 7 1/4" rear axle with 2.83-1 or 3.08-1 gears.

Bill,
saw this thread...

I do not think that the passenger car housing will be the same length, so you'll have to swap the internal parts.
