will a newer superduty tailgate fit on 99-03

I have an 03 f-250 that needs a new tailgate but i found someone selling ones from an 04 and an 06 but i was sure if they would fit on mine. I thought that they would but i wasnt sure.

yes they will fit. Even a 08 tailgate will fit.

I would try to find one off an '08 with the back-up camera and get the rearview mirror to have the monitor too. I been on the lookout for this setup myself.

99-07 Super Duty and 97-03 F150 and F250 light duty tailgates are a direct swap. You can install an 08 Super Duty tailgate on an earlier truck if you swap out the driver's side hinge plate.

Tailgate theft has started getting big. When I was shopping for my 2007 I was at one dealership that said someone had come in that weekend and stole the tailgate off every truck on the lot. They started locking them all after that.

That's why I installed an electric lock on my tailgate. Now whenever I lock my doors, the tailgate gets locked too.

I just bought a used Sport-Trac. I thought it was amusing that it had a lock on the tail gate and a snap-on fabric bed cover. I guess it makes more sense now.
