Flowmaster exhaust questions

I have a 2008 Expy Limited and recently ordered a Flowmaster 50 Series Big Block muffler online. I am still waiting for it to come in before I get my custom exhaust made but was wondering if anyone out there has this muffler installed? The one I orderd is a single in and dual out. If so how does it sound?

Other mods: K&N CAI and a Jet Stage 1 performance chip.

Dont know about the sound, but a reputable custom exaust shop said there was no way to but duals on an expy unless u remove the spare tire.

I think he means its just a dual tip, not dual exhaust. I put the Flowmaster 40 on mine, sounds great, very throaty, a little drone at 1800 RPM (freeway) but not bad, hard to tell over the tires...lol. But my neighbors definitely know when I start the truck and when I get home.

Actually I meant dual exhaust. Not true dual but from the muffler back. Kind of sucks to hear that can't do the dual without moving the spare tire. I'll see if my man has got the skills to make it happen.

Well just got my Expedition back and looks like dual exhaust is possible without removing the spare tire. He brought both pipes through the same path as the stock pipe then routed the driver side pipe around the spare tire and still looks good when looking under the truck.

As far as sound goes if anyone is curious about the 50 series flowmaster...it sounds good. It is not quite as loud as I hoped but it has a nice mild (deeper then stock) tone to it. I'm sure it will get a little louder as time goes on though. It is slightly louder then stock and that's about it. Inside the cab it is not very noticable at all.

Not that much. It's only slightly louder than stock when driving normal. If you gun it then it wakes up a little but even still not really that loud.

Tried to upload a picture but couldn't get it to work, but I was able to change my avatar picture. See avatar picture for what the duals look like.

looks good, but they stick out a little too far, my rear parking sensor would drive me crazy.

They are not out enough to set off the backup sensor.

saw that you have the K&N CAI on the expedition, does it cause a loud drone sound when accelerating? I had one of mine and got K&N to buy it back, couldnt stand the drone it made, I couldnt even hear myself think, or much less hear the radio when I was on the freeway.

It's not bad unless it's wide open throttle then is rattles my dash a little and is a little loud, but under normal driving conditions it's not bad at all...just makes it sound more beefy.
