Thumbs up Welcome to our newest member- monkei

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our newest member Monkei (Patrick). He lives down 680 from me and sounds like he has a challenging project ahead of him. Here is some more information from him.

I've been on FTE for a while, just now decided to try and join a local chapter. I live in Pleasanton, CA (East SF Bay) Recently sold a Banks turbo'd '89 7.3 2wd f250. My 1992 lifted bronco is the neverending project. I could spend a lot of time boring you with the upgrades/repairs I've done. Its immoble as I try and do an engine/FI swap to a MAF/roller 351W. I have access to a shop that I can do some machine work in on my own, lathe, mills, etc. I've spent a lot of time in my engine bay and those of other 90s ford trucks. I'm looking for local people who've converted to MAF or who've done tuning for bigger injectors and the like and good machine shops for Ford engine work.
<--{monkei}-->
Patrick
We are a fun group. Keep us updated on your project and hope to see you on the forums and maybe at a get together.

Karl

Welcome aboard, Patrick! I did a MAF swap myself, but there was a little more to it than that...I swapped a 5.0 into an '89 Ranger which required quite a few changes to the wiring. Haven't got all the bugs out yet and other projects have gotten in the way so it's been pushed to the back burner for now...

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I should have joined a long time ago. I look forward to perhaps meeting and working with some of you in the future.

"Haven't got all the bugs out yet and other projects have gotten in the way so it's been pushed to the back burner for now..."
I know how that is.... My tuck has been sitting for way too long... it kills me.

I'm probably going to the add SFI injector/maf part of the wiring from my '94 5.0/MAF/e40d harness to my original 92 SD harness but I also need to figure out whether the signal coming in and out of the 4wabs boxes on later trucks (94-95) is any different from the signal the PSOM receives on a RABS only truck. I'm pretty sure thats why I have no speedo with my current MAF setup on my 5.0. Thats gonna be a hard question to get a good answer to.

Glad to see some new member join that are closer to me. Unfortunately, I do not have the experience you need to help with the issues you are having.

However, welcome and please do join us for a truck meet soon. ;-)

Yup, it's 'bout 20 miles.

Sure, if I lived in a non-smog county, I'd consider a 24v cummins swap, but it'd be a lot of $ and work to do right.

Actually had a 5 speed 89 f250 with a banks turbo'd 7.3 IDI, felt to me like driving a train. Ended up selling it

I've stockpiled tons o' parts for a Lightning/351w roller swap and I have a 2.2L twin screw supercharger waiting for after I've gotten the motor swap approved by a smog ref and that's how I plan to make big torque.

Thanks for the offer. I don't got a whole lot going on with my truck right now because I'm trying to make the motor swap the priority. Once I get the longblock assembled, then I have a huge list. I'm taking my gt40 iron heads in for rebuild soon, probably this fri/sat.

Are there any good junkyards out your way for 90s broncos? I'm looking for 96s, specifically XLTs and Eddie Bauers.

On my to do list: remove 302, get 351 on stand and change oil pan/pump/gasket, replace water pump/timing chain & gaskets, install rebuilt heads, install roller rockers & pushrods, get injectors cleaned, set up wiring harness, drop in the thing, new tuneup stuff. If it runs and shifts then I go to the smog ref. After that, new rear bumper, wheels, hood, taillight. Once I've gotten it ref'd and lookin' better then I'll start getting ready for boost.

I'm down to go for a ride. You smoke?

Yep. If I can get a 93-95 Lightning 5.8 motor swap blessed by the smog ref, then I can use the C.A.R.B. exemption number for the Gen1 Lightning Kenne Bell supercharger. If i do it right I could have a 500hp CA smog legit gas bronco with bigblock torque

I have the cats and all the smog equipment, the only problems I can forsee is if they decide to get real technical about the fuel injection components. (I will be using a MAF setup, though none of the 93-95 Lightnings were)
