PPG's DBU line is forgiving, well more than DBC is. Omni MAE is alright. Sherwin Williams 2nd demension is alright too. But thats a 8-4-1 mix. You want a easier mixing ratio than that. I forgot what MAE mixing is, but its less costly than DBC & DBU and probably less than 2nd demension also. Plasti-kote is cheap, but its pretty much tractor paint.
I would say Omni MAE system would be good enough. I painted a motorcycle tank and it turned out great, but the finished product is all about the underneath by prepping and perfecting the surface with filler and surfacer primer.
Good luck

I would use MTK over MAE. They're both by PPG but the life span and gloss on MTK are a lot longer than MAE and the cost isn't much more. MAE w/hardener and reducer, for a gallon, is about $115. If you want something cheaper you can try PPG's CPC line. It is equipment paint but they make different grades. The AUE is a better grade and the mixing couldn't be easier. Its a short fill gallon of paint, so you just dump in the hardener, stir it and you're good to paint. The cost is about $65 per sprayable gallon.
