I have a major wobble in the steering wheel assembly. I removed the plastic shroud (have not removed the nut in the center of the wheel yet). Is this a common problem with these trucks? Not sure what the next step is. The tilt works fine, but there is about a 1/2" of play all around. In other words, I can take the steering wheel and move it up a 1/2" down a 1/2" left 1/2" right 1/2". I was told a taurus steering assembly will fit right on. I can go to the junkyard and get one from a Taurus if so. Any ideas as to what is worn out? Do they come off easily?

 

the bearings in the column are junk. you need to take the column apart and repair
