k i did the pin 6 ground and it still ran then quit the same way. and i couldnt get a pressure reading because none of my tire pressure gauges would push the pin down far enough to open the nozzle to let the pressure come out so im just gonna go buy a fuel pressure gauge i guess

The sturdevants near me had a FI fuel pressure kit for $60 and no where else had any and i dont really want to spend $60 on a gauge ill use once. so i gorunded pin 6 again and just pushed the pin down with a screwdriver to see how hard it sprayed and it barely sprayed so that didnt seem consistent with 42 psi so im guessing fuel pressure is to low, does that mean i need a new fuel pump?

Low fuel pressure could be one of two things:
Bad fuel pump (I take it that the fuel pump was running all the time pin #6 was grounded).
Or a bad fuel pressure regulator stuck open ( maybe squeeze the return line at the regulator).

There are gauge a lot lower cost than that.
Here is one at amazon.com:

Note the loose fitting in the photo is the FORD adapter and you need it for FORD Trucks.

The regulator should be at the front LH part of the engine.
If the FPR has a squeezable return line you can squeeze it and see if the pressure goes up.

other then the little rubber hose coming out the top which on your diagram looks like nothing and it doesnt come off easily either the only lines coming out of it are 2 steel tubes so i cant squeeze them should i just take it off and get it tested somewhere or?

Well I do not think I have ever heard of any place you could take them to get them tested.
The regulator should not pass any thing from the pressure side to the other side until the fuel pressure gets to 42 PSI (with no vacuum on the small rubber hose).
So if you take it off and you can blow through it then it is bad.
You could also take the return line off (the smaller fuel line) and maybe stick a rubber hose on it and run the other end into a bucket. Run the pump and see if fuel is going into the bucket. With that low pressure you should get nothing out of the hose going into the bucket.

The pumps when they go bad they almost always quit running.

It sounds like the filter is plugged up.

By the way how many fuel tanks do you have?

I have 2 fuel tanks and ive tried switching tanks and it still does the same thing so i figured the pumps were ruled out. so im probably just gonna buy a new regulator it looks like it cant be much more then 20-30 bucks but ill try that blow through it thing to.

By any chance when it was still running did it ever fill one tank while running on the other?
You may have two bad Fuel Delivery Modules (FDM) with bad check valves in both tanks.
This can happen if the fuel pressure goes bad and lets the fuel pressure go up to 95 PSI and you switch tanks and then takes the other one out.

Omeagher460! Subford has givin you good info here. You should really have a pressure gauge. When my regulator went south it would let fuel in the the line that controls it.Regulator has rubber diafram in it.Also you need to check codes so learn how to read them by the flash code simple just read the manual.no spell check worky
