I am running the Offenhauser DP manifold on my '79 300. This was a challenge because the carburetor sits sideways with this manifold. Because of my AC box and the 90 degrees orientation of the carburetor, I didn't have the option of installing a conventional throttle bracket, because there is no room to pull from behind on my carburetor. Instead, I had to custom engineer a throttle bracket to allow the throttle linkage to pull forward from underneath, at the bottom of the throttle arm. Because of the leverage action, this is the same thing as pulling from behind. Here are some pictures of my setup:
Here is the throttle bracket I made, complete with a return spring housing:
I also had to make a smaller bracket to secure the other end of the cable to the stock pedal bracket. This is the only shot I have of it. In the picture, I have the clevis of the throttle cable connected to the pedal using a zip tie. This was just a "mock" setup. For the permanent installation, I am using an eye bolt to secure the clevis to the stock pedal arm.
Overall it was quite a challenge. My setup does not allow for automatic transmission kickdown, unfortunately. This is because I'm already taking up the spot for the kickdown connection on the throttle arm. However, I haven't been in a situation where I needed it to kick down, because of the truck's power. You can always manually kick down if needed. For the cable, I used a cut-to-length Lokar cable. I have drawings with dimensions of everything I made for this setup, if you'd like to copy my design.

A 4' Lokar cable will do the job if you are pulling from the top of the linkage. Either fab or buy a suitable bracket and the only problem might be clearing the heater/AC box. Others here have made a bracket similar to fmc400's for use with the 390. There are pics and diagrams...gonna have to search for them though.
