Rank the tires

Alright, here is my last tire question post, and that is rank the tires from best to worst in your opinion, I am looking at all of them in a 275/70/18 and they are all affordable tires for me, so let me know! Im looking for a good all terrain that still looks good and performes even better....

GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor
Nitto Terra Grappler
Hankook Dynapro RF10 ATM
Cooper Discoverer ATR
Michelin LTX AT2
Big O Big Foot AT

Thats a tough one to do man, I doubt anyone here has tried every single one!

Try tirerack.com they have ratings on that site.

Well my dad has the big o tire and he likes them pretty agressive tread also. Buddy of mine has the good year silent armor and they also are a good looking tire, he seems to like them too. Prolly not much help to your decision but here ya go. Have you looked at the new mickey thompson baja atz??? Thats the tire I'm going with just in a bigger size 305/70R18.

I agree with "preppy"...going to be tough to find someone that has tried more than one or two... I have the BFG AT and love them! For what it's worth..

Not only is it tough to find someone who has tried them all, it depends on what someone wants in a tire. For me, if the tire can't hook up, handle 140 MPH and corner on rails its useless on my F150. For the Superduty I need an all terrain but I drive it so infrequently that price, not performance, is the biggest consideration. The Tirerack option is probably the best route to go because not only do they have ratings, the rating also include a bunch of things the users rank the tire on so you can pick what meets your needs best.

I have had two sets of the Nitto's, and wouldn't buy them again. One set of Mud Grapplers on my F-250, and a set of the Terra Grapplers that came on my F-150 that I have now. I rotate my tires every 3-5K in my driveway, and I still get a lot of cupping, uneven wear, and the set of Terra Grapplers were just cached after about 2 months of having the truck. I'm planning on getting BFG A/T KO's. They're a great tire, they wear well, and they work well in sand, which is a must since I fish in Cape Hatteras a lot.

Out of your list I have used the silent armours, have them on my f250 right now, they are pretty good, but they dont handle the mud as well as my mt/r's did (obviously)

Goodyear and michelin will probably be about the best off of your list, also probably the most expensive.

From my experiences when I worked at the tire shop, I found cooper and hankook to be OK tires, just didnt last quite as long as the more expensive goodyear, michelin, and bf's.

Also regarding the bf's I had a set on my super duty when I first got it, and they seemed ok, not quite as nice as my silent armours I have now, but not a bad tire either. I didnt keep them on for very long though.

I had a set of the Nitto TG's (285/65R18) that went well over 40k and would have went more but I took a nail in the side wall so I went ahead and bought a new set of tires. I loved the Nitto's when I had them though. They wore perfectly even and they had great traction on icey snow packed roads. I would have bought them again but they did not have the size I wanted, 305/65R18. I think they were a great tire for the money.

I now have the BFG AT K/O and so far I like them alot but man are they EXPENSIVE. I just bought them in June so I have no idea how they are in the snow but they did great on my fishing trip up to the Rocky Mtns. Handled the rocky trails we take to the fishing holes like a champ.

My dad bought the Silent Armors and hated them on his dually F350. He says they wondered all over the road when he was towing his horse trailer. He got rid of them after 10K because he couldn't stand it anymore. And yes they were the Pro-grade.
My co-worker has them on his Yukon and loves them though so I'm sure application plays a role in whether someone likes them or not. Other than that I have no experience with the them.

I have two friends that have the Michelin LTX AT2, one set is on an 03 F150 the other is on an Excursion. Both people swear by them and say they will never buy another tire.

Thumbs up

the latest edition of Consumer Reports rates tires. The best all-terran tire was the Scoripon and my favorite, NITTO TG's rated #8

The only tire on your list that I can comment about is the Cooper ATR. I've put about 10K on mine so far and they still look great. However, they are a dissapointment when it comes to grip. Maybe it's just the set I've got, but the steering response is poor and in heavy rain on the highway my truck feels like I'm running on grease.

But, I've known tons of people who really liked these. Maybe it's the cost vs performance compromise. But I'd avoid them.

I've had the Terra Grapplers and Silent Amor Pro grade. I would not get the Nitto again. I went through 2 sets, the 1st broke lugs. The 2nd lasted fine but didn't have the traction in the snow I was looking for. I then purchased the Silent Armors, they have been great. Very quiet when I got them, great traction in all weather. I do a lot of winter driving on and off road and towing. They are 1/2 worn now and I am looking to get out of them to get some new ones. The ride is much harsher now and noisier. I will either get the same or the BFG TA. I did have the cooper AT but it was on a Jeep GC, I liked them a lot for that vehicle.
