Ford pre 05 owners, the blue is painted to the chrome with a jelly like plastic cover that can be heated in hot water and peeled out. The paint comes with it. The you can paint it and then use envirotex, but a note on envirotex. If you want a pee yellow emblem in short order, use envirotex lite that is purchased at hobby stores etc. If you want a durable emblem that stays crystal clear, get envirotex with UV stabilizers. And when you mix it, mix a little more resin than hardner. This makes the emblem slightly flexible like the original and it won't crack if a stone impact happens... I didn't end up using envirotex. Just painted the backround black, and used chapstick on the FORD part and then wiped off the chapstick and the chrome FORD part stood out, then i cleared it. Word of advice when painting chrome... either use a lot of adhesion promoter, or hit it with a light sandblast media... Not much likes to stick to such a smoothe surface...

Looks good Mr. Waston.....
I know this is an old thread but, all I have to do is sand down the clear coat and blue paint to get it down to the chrome/silver look?
I just want to paint mine flat black....I think.
I dont know if its common but it looks like there is condensation in mine.
Thanks...Gage
