Cab lights
Hey fellers! Im looking for cab marker lights and the wiring harness off a 05 or newer F-3fiddy. Ive looked until my eyeballs cant look no more. I found them online but not too sure about the HIGH price. If anyone could point me to a salvage yard or a good deal Id appreciate it. $75 or less would be nice, (FREE EVEN BETTER) HAHA
Thanks for ya time and help guys

Im in Roanoke. I tried to find some at East Coast Auto Source but either I get put on hold for 30 minutes or they dont call me back. Do you think cab lights would look right on a F-150? I want to put the smoked lenses on them so they look dark during the day then come to life at night. I know this place has got to have a wrecked 350, they have about 50 acres of vehicles. Im originally from Beckley but moved here in 98. Wonder what happened to the junk yard that was out there on Byrd drive near wally world?

The EPA is what is happening to salvage yards everywhere.
That and the high scrap prices are making junk/salvage yards disappear faster than you can say David Copperfield.
We have lost three close to here in the last year.
All I can say about cab lights, they add 5 possible points for water leaks.
I am trying to figure out which one of mine are leaking right now.

Gee thanks! Make a negative point to my small little hopes of getting them. First ya get me with the junk yards being hounded by the EPA and scrap prices, then tell me about water leaks. What if I slather silicone under them? Heck.........I may not even get them now. Not sure if its worth the headache!

Sorry, but I am usually about as real world as I can get with my replies.
My original cab lights did not leak for years.
But they were getting all cracked up from tree branches smacking them, and started leaking.
So I replaced them.
The leak moved to the other side of the truck, but still leaks.
Drives me nuts.

Id say so. I deal with marker lights at work but only have about 15 trucks that have actual cab lights on top of the cab. The rest are in the air dam above the cab. Haven't got any of them leaking "YET"! OK..........What about the moon visors by lund with the marker lights in them? Only experience Ive had with those was my step dads getting ripped off by strong winds in the driveway. Whats your thoughts with those?

Installing! Gotta remember I have a 2005 s-cab FX4. I just thought it would look neat with some smoke cover cab lights on it. The more info I get the more of a headache it sounds like. I dont "need" nor "want" any water leaks in my truck. Wonder if I did get them, if I cut thin rubber pieces to fit under the lights, and seal each side with silicone and a thin layer around the edges???
By the way.......where is Rural,WV or is that meant to be like a rural place in WV?

msgtg is way out in the middle of nowhere way down south, definitely rural WV.
Although I did not silicone the lights, they come with a rubber gasket, or at least the old 86 OEM style did.
For some reason the old style has a raised ring around the screws.
As fast as it starts leaking, I am starting to think the water is entering around the screws.
Since I think I have tomorrow off, I am going to try a dab of body putty (that nice sticky type that never gets hard) down in each screw hole before I put the screw in.
I would almost take mine off and close the holes, but I am licensed heavy enough and have a DOT number, so they have to be there.

Your that heavy in a 250??? Sheesh! We have 350's around here that run regular auto tags. Another idea that might work for you is take a tube of silicone and squirt it in the screw hole, then run your screw in and let the silicone seal over top of the screw.
HAHAHAHA.........that just sounded nasty!

Ok take it fom an autobody guy. Cab lights are sheet nomatter factory or add ons. If they dont get abused like dave does to them then after the years they will dry rot and start to leak. Roofs are a pain to repair because gettin something that big and flat to look right takes forever and a bodyshop now charges somewhere are $34-40 an hour so just add that up. Another thing i see you consantly mentioning silicone. Wel silicone will break down you paint. So basically if the cab lights dont let water in the silicone will eat the paint away then itll rust. And with the visors you still have to drill holes in the roof. I saw a guy in work awhile back that made a bracket that bolted under his interior visors and he mouonted 5 LED lights pointing outward. Lillte amber colored oval shaped ones. He said he doesnt get any glare back to him and they look great. Might want to try that.
