5th Wheel Trailer Charging Problem

I have a 2003 F350 Diesel and pull a 39ft Cardinal 5th Wheel Trailer. It seems that if the Trailer Batteries are not charged when I hook up and then try to use the landing gear or room slides it blows the 20 amp charging fuse.

Would I dare try to use a 30amp fuse at that location without burning up the electrical system??

Thanks
Dave

Here is a cure for getting your trailer powered up to tow; Amazon.com: Coleman Cable Systems 08662 25' Heavy Duty 4-Gauge Booster Cables: Automotive
A set of these cables attached to the trailers battery will carry the juice needed to close up the slides and raise the jacks without using the 20 amp circuit.
Do not exceed the rating of the circuit by installing a 30 amp fuse. Are you having this problem after having stored the trailer for a long period? I like to keep my trailer stored at home where I keep it plugged in to a 30 amp 120v receptacle just like at the campgrounds. I run the systems AC, fridge, heater and water pump every few weeks when the unit is stored for a while. This also has the side benefit of keeping the batteries charged.

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of that before, only problem is that I cannot open the slides in place, the RV must be moved because of such a tight parking space. Kind of hard to attach the cables from the Truck to the Trailer with the Truck hooked up ready to move the Trailer.

I did appreciate your thoughts about increasing the Fuse size for Trailer Charging. I'll play it safe and just keep my Batteries from the Trailer at home, charged up so when I need to move the Trailer they are ready. I wish it was parked at home with electric service but it is in a storage lot. This wouldn't be an issue but I'm not using the Trailer any longer, trying to sell it!!

Thanks again
Dave
