I am getting ready to put a CAI on my truck. I know you have to unhook the battery, my question is on my Edge Evo. do I have to return the truck to stock before I unhook the battery. Can I just leave it on level 2, unhook the battery, install the CAI and hook the battery back up?

 

Well the only reason I can think of to unhook the battery, is for the stock program to 'relearn' everything (including all that new air from the CAI). With an Edge in place.... you aren't using the stock program.... so I am not sure unplugging the battery would do anything?

That is how I see it. I am sure others will chime in.

 

You don't have to return to stock before disconnecting the battery. The non-volatile part of the program will still be there, and just the "learned" trims will be reset.

You could get the same effect of disconnecting the battery by re-programming the PCM with the Edge. That will wash away the learning too.

 

this is what happened to my o6 150 5.4. With the edge evo and the cai installed throws the truck to fail safe mode. I was told to disconnect the battery at stock and start over. It works but the down fall is that you can not change power levels one you pick one with out starting over.
