Brush Guard

Am considering adding brush guard to 99 Expedition. Anyone know of any problems or drawbacks?

There should be no problem with doing that. Just a little added weight in the front. Just please dont be one of those city drivers with the brush guard. I really dont like those guys. They never leave the pavement...so what do they need it for?

I detest those on city drivers also! You ride to town and see a $40,000 vehicle whether it be a Ford or other (really hate seeing that ugly Lexus or MB thing with one!!!) suv/truck knowing that they will never scratch the thing much less take it off road. I saw an Expedition just the other day with 19" rims low profile tires AND a brush bar, nerf bars, and tail light guards. I wanted to stop the guy and tell him to throw some of that wasted money my way. I'll step down now, I just had to put in my 2 cents on this issue. Sorry

Well, I bought one anyway. I guess to keep all you people happy who think I actually have to go BRUSHING, I will pull down some Georgia Kudzu and weave it into the bars. Seriously, it's a black Manik, and I think it looks great, the only thing is that to open the hood you have to pull the top part outwards (it does move back and forth about an inch) so that it won't hit the hood. My biggest concern is when some mechanic goes to slam it down and it hits that bar. Any ideas? Also, will the airbags still work effectively?

Don't worry about that guard affecting your air bags...they operate from inertia, or the abrupt stopping thereof. Yea, better uproot some small bushes and slap on that to appease us off-roaders...you should scratch up your paint job for authenticity as well As far as taking it to a mechanic...I'd just mention it to 'em and cross your fingers, unless you can permanently fix that guard in the "out" posistion. It sounds weird to me that it has an inch of movement anyways...are you sure its mounted correctly?

I happen to like them myself. And they do come in usefull, saved my headlights when I ran into a tree, rearended a Dodge 2500, hit the same tree again, and have used it to sit on while I work on the engine. Well worth the $450.

The dodge I can understand, but what the heck do you have against that tree!? Or was the tree/dodge/tree all one big clusterscrew?

The Dodge was trying to tow me because my engine wouldn't start . After it stopped (And I couldn't) I figured out that I had run out of gas I proceded to change tanks and drive the rest of the way home.

The uhh, tree. I kinda sorta don't trust Steeltek tires for stopping in mud anymore. This happened twice before I got the point.

Please keep in mind I'm really not as stupid as this seems.

Thanks for the clarification Daywalker, that was good for a laugh. Is your handle a refrence to Blade?

Did you know I've been on these boards (Here and PUTC) for about a year and a half. You are the first to come up with the source without me telling them. Yeah, I really liked the movie and really liked Wesley Snipes "acting" (fighting) so....

Cool, do I win a t-shirt or something That was a cool movie. I've studied Kenjutsu for 16 years and its always nice to see swordwork accurately depicted (I've heard that Snipes has studied Kenjutsu and Kenpo as well). Oh, and I want the Charger in that movie something fierce.

You can take your pick, a free T-shirt ($50 shipping) or I have a $50 dollar shirt (free shipping). I always thought that car was a mustang. I don't know much about Chargers (who makes them?) but it was awesome. I don't know swordwork but the hand to hand fighting looked like Kempo hand to hand fighting so I procedded to buy the VHS and later the DVD.

You live in Misery right?

I'll take the $50 T-shirt with free shipping, send it COD I winced in pain when I read that you thought that was a Mustang. My God man! Ah well, maybe I'm biased because my first car was a mustang. It was a charger, '70 or '71 I think. Yes, that was Kempo Karate (I see I accidentally hit the n instead of the m above). Kenjutsu is the art of Japenese sword fighting. You probably hear it referred to as Kendo, but this is really just a watered down sport version of Kenjutsu.

Misery???
