looking for a new carboratur --F100´68--

Hi there,

my name is larsen an i´m the owner of a ford f 100 ranger. the car was built in 1969. It´s the 1970 version. Now i need a new carborator. The actual carb is NOT the orginal one. It´s one with a automatic choke. I need one with a manual chocke. My mechanic sad that will be a good choice to take a holley. But wich one? Here are the date´s i have

VIN:F10YRG96778
Model Year: 70
Series: F100 - 4x2 Pickup
Engine: 8 Cyl, 360ci, 2bbl
Assembly Plant: San Jose
Transmission: The only information provided is Automatic. My guess is C6
Front Axle: Invalid code. Please double check your entry
Rear Axle: 3.25 3300lb Ford

My machanic also sad that we need a adapter to fix ore a adapter to switch from 4bbl to 2bbl.

Please send me some informations. i´m looking forward to youre answers with a great smile.

If you decide to go with a 2 barrel I would suggest this one.
Holley 0-4412S - Holley Model 2300 Carburetors - summitracing.com
I put this on my truck after dealing with three rebuilt ones and never could get it to act right! I bolted this thing on straight out of the box and my truck instantly ran better. Then a couple of minor adjustments and it's awesome and since it's a 500 cfm it'll still work if I upgrade the cam and/or rockers.

Good luck!

Welcome to FTE.

Do you just like manual chokes? The rest of the carb is all the same, you can change it from automatic to manual choke. You can buy the kits at your local parts store.

You have a 360ci FE, so the if you don't plan on any changes or upgrades, then I'd suggest this Holley version:

Holley 0-7448 - Holley Model 2300 Carburetors - summitracing.com

It's the 350cfm version and probably a better responsing version then the bigger 500 cfm. All the same money, but if don't plan on hot rodding it, it'd pick the smaller version for better throttle response and low speed drivability.

There were no manual choke carburetors offered for 1970 and later F100/350's with 360/390 engines.

There is no listing for a manual choke carb or the cable in the parts catalog.

If you have a manual choke carb & a choke cable on your truck, it was installed by a previous owner.

There were no factory installed 4 barrel carbs ever offered for the 360 engine.

If your truck has a 4 barrel carb (it's prolly off a 1965/71 passenger car with a 390), and you wish to return to a 2 barrel carb, you'll have to change the intake manifold.

btw: There is no front axle code for your truck. Front axle codes were only used for (some) 4WD's and F500 and larger trucks.

Thru 1972: If applicable, the front axle code is the 3rd digit of the AXLE code. The first two digits decode the rear axle.
