Called title bureau today and they told me title is still active for truck. Of course they couldn't give me any other private information on it. Does any one know how I could track the current owner down? I'd love to see the truck now and possibly buy it back, sure do miss it. My first big boy truck. Thanks Bill

A CAR-FAX report will tell you usually what state the VIN is in-the state yearly safety inspections and sales and mileage. Find the state and then contact the DMV for that state. Privacy Act will probably prevent you from finding out the actual owner. But the CAR-FAX report will tell you if the truck is still on the road and what state it is in and what the mileage is.

Then place a want ad in Craig's List in the state and town the truck shows to be.

Wink

Here in Florida you can go into a tax/tag office and with proper ID and a tag number of VIN you CAN get the name and address of the current registered owner. might be the same in Ohio????

Thanks so much fatherdoug, I figured that was it. phoneman91, already posted local craigs list want ads, just hope new owner cruises the site looking like I do. I also wonder about the milage and transfers of ownership. I traded the truck in 1996 with about 55k on the od. Supercab, I think the privacy act will kill any chances of getting any info on current owner, I guess I'm just going to have to stalk the whole city of chagrin falls till I find it, I'm on mission now.

Billy150: I hope that you find it. And when you find your old truck-I hope that it has been garaged and covered since 1996 by a loving owner. And in as good of condition was when you sold it in 1996. And I hope that the present owner is motivated to sell it. Good luck!! Let us know what happens.

I have found some of my old long-ago-sold vehicles and it is like a time machine-brings back all kinds of memories when you find one of your old vehicles!!

Phoneman91, thanks it already has brought back some memories just thinking about it. Funny thing is today doing a job out in chagrin falls and needless to say my head was jerking back and forth looking. Either way i would just like to see/know its still being used today. If the next owners took care of it like I did it'll still look pretty new, but we all know how hard that is. i'll keep you informed. Thanks again Bill

Fatherdoug, If you know, did my truck change ownership a few times? I traded it in july 96 with about 55k on it. A friend works for the licence bureau wont even attempt to look it up, I understand why. Thanks again Bill
