front end ..... SQUEAK!!!!!
Hey guys, I have a problem. I have a metal on metal sounding squeak in the front end of my truck. It only happens after I have been driving for a few miles, it doesn't matter whether or not the truck is already warmed up or not, it always takes a few miles. Once the drivetrain is warmed up it is a squeak that gets faster the faster that I go. I would think that it would be coming from either my wheel, axle, or driveshaft but I can't seem to find it. I put the truck up on a jack and spun the wheel but it didn't make any noise. It also gets louder and louder until the drivetrain cools off again. It is driving me crazy. I have new breaks on the front and really need to figure this out.

4x2 or 4x4
new brakes + a squeak that starts once things warm up...that pretty much points right at your brakes
the brakes/rotors are expanding as they get hotter. this is most likely making them contact something and that is the sqeaky noise.
pull your front wheels/rotors off and look for signs of rubbing. also make sure to check the dust shield. it may have gotten bent

can't be u-joints 96sherm...unless he is driving in 4x4 all the time. nothing up there moves when in 4x2
I would still pull apart the brakes and take a look. simple and fairly quick to eliminate as the source.
check your pulleys as well. something is expanding as it gets hotter. it could be one of the pulleys up front. you may have to pull over really quick the next time you hear it and pop the hood

i know that, but it was just a suggestion from my experience when i had a set of u-joints go bad, the noise sounded like it was comming from anywhere but the driveshaft.

OK guys, I figured it out. I had time to rip the wheel off again so then I removed the Caliper and noticed that one of the metal clips that hold the brake pads in the caliper bracket where about an 1/8 inch from the top of the rotor and the other one was about 3/4 inch so I bent it and the problem is gone. Thanks for all your help.
