Vibration Question

I have a 96 ford powerstroke and i noticed sometimes it has a vibration that comes and goes, the vibration comes on out of no were and vibrates no matter if you have the throttle on or coming to a stop. it goes away at idle. if the truck sits for a few minutes and go driving its gone. it is a 5 speed with a 1705 microtuner on it. any idea's.

it can. they can do all sorts of weird things when they start to go up. i'm sure someone with the dual mass issues will chime in

i doubt it. the superchip is a very modest tuner. doesnt have a lot of aggressive tuning to it even on high performance setting

How would i tell if it was the flywheel i would hate to have one put in and its not the problem. i called a garage and they want 1250.00 to put in a single mass flywheel with new clutch and pilot bearing. does that sound like a good price to you.

what brand clutch and flywheel is it? any warrenty on it? that could be a good price or a bad price. it depends on what they are installing.

you can rule out the motor by removing the chip for one, and i assume you have no power issues or smoking problems? no misfires right? just a ghost vibration at times?

there putting in a luke clutch. and no it dont smoke at all. i tried removing the microtuner once and didnt seem to do it but not sure. i get bad fuel millage without it and not a whole lot of power without it. It sometime surges at idle and not sure what that is either, when you shut the motor off it does rattle a little as it shuts off.

I agree with Joe. The best way to check the flywheel is to remove the inspection cover. I believe you should only be able to move the two halves about 3/4 of inch rotation from each other. never had my hands on though so I can't say thats a fact.
