closed knuckle front end

i have a closed knuckle front end on my '74 F-250. I believe it is a dana 44, don't know for sure. it has drum brakes. a friend of mine wants to trade me for his front end that is not a closed knuckle design, his has disc brakes, he wants the front end cause he has 15 in. wheels and they won't fit over his disc brake calipers. any ideas or opinions on these two types of axles, i probably am not going to make the trade as it seems like too much work cause we'd have to trade the rear axles also. of course i could always do the swap when i lift the truck since i'll already be there. any opinions on either of these two axles would be appreciated. thanks

Where abouts are you located? I have the chance to buy a Dana 44 closed Knuckel from a 71 F250 and it comes with a Dana 60 rear end. I have been told that this front end it use less but unless you do serious 4x4ing I can't really see the problem. If I were you although you don't want to rip your friend off I would go for it. If you are close to Vancouver BC then maybe we could work something out with the ones I can get. Good Luck
