18"s or switch to 20"

So I have done some reading on here and would like some opinions on something I am thinking of doing. I currently have an 04 FX4 Screw that has the original BFG Rugged Trail 275/65/18 with 45k and they are in need of replacing. I can get my hands on a set of stock 20" with the Pirelli P275/55/20 Scorpion ATR with only 5k of wear for $500 from a friend that raised his and put different rims/tires on.

Is this something that is a good deal? I know that I cannot replace just the tires for $500, so that is a huge plus and I do think the 20's look better on the truck.

If I stick with the 18's I can replace with new BFG Rugged Trail for $690 or spend the money and go with the BFG AT KO for $1100. What are your thoughts on those tires?

I live in Seattle and the temperature through most of the year is pretty mild and doesnt get too warm or too cold. However the roads are wet a lot and I don't want the truck to be squirrly. Also I hardly take the truck off road.

All your input is apprectiated!

Thanks

I vote you get the 20"s. they look really nice on our trucks...and you can't beat $500

I have a buddy with the Scorpions on his Tundra...yes a Tundra

anyways, he loves them. I was in Bangor/Silverdale for 6 yrs and he had them the entire time. He never had anything to complain about with them up there in all the rain and snow.

I have the 20" and had the Pirelli's. I say it is a good deal for your use and will look good to boot. I think the Pireelis' rode very well, minus the occasional flat spotting that is worse in cold weather. Even then a short drive fixes the problem. Go for it!

The BFT AT KO's are an awesome tire, great tread life and handle very good, well worth the money. Personally i'd stick with 18's and throw some BFG's on them. 18's are the perfect size for out trucks, perfect blend of wheel and rubber. This is just my opinion of course, i'm sure whatever you do will look great, good luck.

I switched my 18"s out for factory 20's. I love the way it looks. If I had it to do over again I would. Just not with the Pirelli's again. They have severe flat spotting issues. Can't wait for them to wear out so I can replace them.

Well I went ahead and did it today! And took some pics for you. Don't mind the dirtyness, she prefers it :-)

Old rims and tires:

Thanks for your opinions!

Haven't driven much on them yet, but so far it seems to ride nicer on the freeway. Oh and I don't know if it is because of the tire difference or just because they aren't bald, but I can definetely break the back ones loose easier and make some noise with them.

the Pirelli's are a harder tire than the BFG's. that causes them to have a little less traction
