Stereo- not happy

Well I want a good sounding setup. Had a nice Sony (I know not the best when it comes to cd players) layin in the garage. Decided to put it in my truck along wtih a set of JL speakers for the rear or cab corners of my truck. Installation was cake, but I am NOT happy with the way it sounds. I realize I have stock front/door speakers but still dont like the way it sounds.
What do you guys recommend/have that sounds good?
Should I use the stock amp or bypass it? right now its wired up.

I know I asked this question a while back but im ready to buy now and dont want to waste money. I want something that sounds good, not muffled.

i love jvc head units combined with rockford speakers. without some form of subwoofer you wont get a really good sounds from our trucks. the stock 6x8's dont have any bass no matter who you buy it from and neither will the round door speakers. upgrading them will give you crisp clear treb's but not deep defined bass until a sub is added. i still dont have any in my truck due to room. i dont know where to put one without losing the rear seats or at least part of it. under the rear seat doesnt leave anyroom for a box so i am not happy with my current set-up from a bass standpoint.

I just want somethin that sounds good with Skynyrd, Led zep, Ted Nugent, Van Halen, & country cranked up!!! No rap for me. I just don't wanna go spending a pretty penny, install it all and be disappointed.

oh no, i hate rap, but you need some bass to get the sounds good. i dont mean get a pair of 12's in your truck or anything like that but a single 8 or 10 inch sounds great. if you heard one you would be thoroughly impressed with how sweet home alabama sounds!

I have a JVC HD radio & Sirius Running thru the stock amp. Pioneers 6x8 in the Rear ,Kenwoods in the frt (new & free from a wrecked Freightliner) & a boom tube behind seat. Sounds good but the boom tube could defenently use more power. The radio has a output just for bass so hooking up another amp should be no problem.

If you dont want to try and add any subs maybe change out of the factory speakers with some six inche and some tweeters they make a deal to fit in the old hole. just some new quality 6" speakers will do a world of difference but you will probably have to go with an aftermarket amp to push them. good luck

I put a set of 6x9"s in my doors and it made a world of difference. I believe everyone needs some bass, how much is up to you, but to get a good sound your going to need some sort of sub.
Been thinking about adding more speakers down in the kick panel. shouldnt be to hard. hardest part would be to open up the doorpanel. just another thing to add to the list.......

When i bought my truck it didn't have rear speakers in it and had stock door speakers so i had some pioneer 4x6's laying around that i put in the doors and put 2 10" subs behind the seat. sounded really good with country music and the subs had the easy life when i listened to country b/c the bass was turned on -7 and sub was on 5 on my alpine head unit with the amp at 12db bass boost. i upgraded to 2 12" alpine type s subs and they get to the deep bass tones better which i like. still haven't put rear speakers in it b/c it sounds good the way it is. the subs hit the bass great and the 4x6's hit the treb pretty good. i would like to put 6x9's in it instead of 4x6's though. the 4x6's peak out pretty easily where as 6x9's would be able to handle the power easier/better.

The best system that i have put in my truck thus far is 2 6 1/2" Alpine Type-R's up front and 2 5x7's in the rear with a single type-R 10" sub. Only problem with the sub is that it needs a deep box which means the floor space infront of the center seat is gone. The best site i have found for electronic stuff is techronics.com. I would go with a rockford fosgate amp to, i have a MA Audio but it was free and you know how that goes. For a head unit i have a an alpine with iPod and sirius. But im getting a new one that has a 7.5" fold out screen that is a DVD player and has GPS and a bunch of other stuff.

The ones that had the Premuim Sound system did, & i think it mounted to the firewall by the radio. I also had to by another adapter harness to make my Radios work properly.

I had the Non-Amped factory system in my truck, replaced deck with Alpine and speakers with Boston Acoustics all around. Then I changed the cross-over in the deck so the speakers wouldn't try and play bass below a certan frequency (i forget how many Hertz but i can check) Listen to the same stuff you do, no rap crap and sounds pretty good! Sub sould still help but no room....
