shackle flip

Does anyone know if anybody makes frame mounts to do a shackle flip on the back of my truck? I heard you can use the front spring frame mount and modify them to fit the rear of the spring, but I was wondering if there was a company that just makes the frame mounts.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I have seen this done on an '78 and the owner swares he spent $10 doing it. I dont have the Mag infront of me but i will check on exactally how he did it. I THINK he got another back rear spring hanger and mounted it on the front of the rear spring. SO he had 2 rear spring rear brackets on the rear spring....whew! man that alot! but i will check tom.....

I believe I've seen that article. He took the spring mount that attaches the front of the spring to the frame and bought a pair of those and mounted them on the rear of the spring and attached the shackles to them, netting 4" of lift in the process. I guess I could have a junkyard knock me off a couple of those.

I'm not sure what your frame looks like, but you could probably use stock mounts from the newer F150's as they are already flipped. You can get them pretty cheap from ur local Ford dealer to boot.

I drilled my rivets out of my stock rear hangers onmy 82 F150, flipped it over and bolted it back to the frame. I then added a 2in. shackle drop to it and removed the factory bump stop block.

Can't you just get longer shackels, or is that not strong enough?

yes is would be stronger...but to the point that it would make a dif....who knows. BUT i woudl rather use a stock mount with a stock shackle that bolts up in a stock way to net me 4" of lift..all that for probly less then half for what you would pay for thoes longer shackles..not bad if you ask me.....

I have a 71 F100 4x4 and I did a shacle flip. I used the front spring perches off the rear axle of a donor truck and removed the rear hangers .AI replaced the rear hangers with the front perches and flipped the shackle .You can adjust how much lift you want. I could get about 7-8 inches of lift I only needed 4" so it works well also.Very inexpensive and not much work.I just torched them off a donor truck and torched the rivets off my truck, replaced the rivets with some grade 8's.It gives the truck a stiffer ride and no probs worrying about block slippage.Mr.B
