New guy with new F100

Hi everyone my name is Christian and Im from Mexico city, this is my first post .<o></o>

I know that I have a 302 engine but I don’t know what transmision and rearend do I have,, I think that is a c4 or c5 overdrive but not sure so I post some pics of my transmision and if you know what I have please letme know (the number 23 is stamp in the front part of the trans),,

there isnt a c5 overdrive. unless there are gear vendors on it. which is a bolt on overdrive also c4's and c5's are basically the same. the c5 replaced the c4. its either a c5 or c6 look at your tranny and if it aint square and it has a "dogleg" in the tranny oil pan its a c6 if its pretty much square its a c5. rear end gears the door tag on the inside of the drivers side door. the axle code look it up

Welcome to FTE and the 80-86 board. Give us the number from the tag on the door frame. It will have a slot that says "Axle" and under it will be a two digit number

Trans T = AOD
Axle 15 = 3.25 to ratio If you have bolts on the back of the rear it's a Ford 8.8 rear. If the back of the rear is smooth it's a Ford 9 inch.

Where do you find the axle ratios by the codes Franklin? Is there a site I can check? I'll check mine tomorrow. I've been wondering what was back there as well

thanks ,,,,

but what means AOD???? i think i have a c5 trans or is the same??

and my rear end is smooth like you can se in the pics i posted in the top of the post so I have a Ford 9inch.

C5's & C6's are different transmissions to your AOD.
The AOD is a lighter duty, 4 speed transmission. AOD stands for Automatic Overdrive - 4th gear is overdrive (about .67:1 ratio). I have one in my F250.

Some people get good service from them, but they don't have the greatest reputation.Towing in o/d; or driving with the selector in the o/d position, but with the transmission shifting in & out of o/d, will damage the trans. quickly.
It's also very important to have the TV linkage correctly adjusted, or slippage in the transmission will also damage it quickly.

I've had my trans serviced & the TV adjusted. I just drive it normally (but conscious of the o/d). It has done 165000 miles & is still in good condition, according to the transmission shop. It is also a big advantage to have an extra oil cooler for the trans (apart from the engine-radiator cooling set up)

Someone awhile back in this forum posted most all the codes. It actually took up two posts if I remember. I copied it and put it in a word pad file on my computer so I can refer to it. I guess I can just copy it and put it back on here again, so here goes.

The AOD is a lighter duty, 4 speed transmission. AOD stands for Automatic Overdrive - 4th gear is overdrive (about .67:1 ratio). I have one in my F250.

Some people get good service from them, but they don't have the greatest reputation.Towing in o/d; or driving with the selector in the o/d position, but with the transmission shifting in & out of o/d, will damage the trans. quickly.
It's also very important to have the TV linkage correctly adjusted, or slippage in the transmission will also damage it quickly.

I've had my trans serviced & the TV adjusted. I just drive it normally (but conscious of the o/d). It has done 165000 miles & is still in good condition, according to the transmission shop. It is also a big advantage to have an extra oil cooler for the trans (apart from the engine-radiator cooling set up)

mmmm i have another question about the power of my f100 but i think im going to start a new post cos is for the rear end (gears)
