Edelbrock 1406 on 351M

1979 F250 with a 351M. All stock. Can I just take off the existing carb and replace it with a Edelbrock 1406? Any hassles I should know about? Lemmeknow.

1979 F250 4x4
2007 Yaris

AVG MPG - 25.

The carburetor is 4 barrel and if your motor is stock you have a 2 barrel manifold. There are adapters out there that will let you put that on there, but in my opinion it's a waste of money to put the carburetor on there if you're not going to use a 4 barrel manifold as well. You will most likely run into throttle linkage problems too because of the new carburetor height; you'd have to wait and see.

One issue though is if you have a stock motor, your intake will have an EGR cavity where the carburetor sits. The adapter in the link below isn't set up for that kind of heat, so you'd probably need a second 2-barrel phenolic spacer underneath this one too.

In my opinion, on your engine (2 barrel, EGR) this really isn't worth it unless you swap the manifold too.

Try ebay or Craigslist first...you could save some dough. I bought my manifold in awesome shape for $50.

its true , although i experimented on the stock manifold by making a square hole the size of the 4 barrels of my eddy performer 750, where the 2 barrels were, getting a single plane small port manifold, this made my engine rev easily to 5500 rpms.....but again i had flooding issues jajaj and a choppy iddle but still good torque.
