PSD turbo in a Ranger?

I'm am starting to get ready for my new turbo amung other things and my buddy has a Ranger with a 3.somethingL V6 and he wants to put a turbo in it. Well lucky him i'm getting a new one and we were just wondering if this could work. I dont htink it will with the stock housing on it but if he were to buy the .89 A/R housing i was thinking that it would be almost perfect. Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Awhh...What a disappointment.

I thought you were getting ready to put the whole PSD in the ranger.

I don't know if a 3.0L would have enough exhaust flow to spin that puppy and give much boost. That's a whole lot less displacement than a 7.3. Just something to think about.

i think the bigest hurtle would be fabing up the mounting/oil lines and even then i dont think there would be enough flow for it to work very well. the lag would be horrid

that just may work ok on that little thing if you get the smallest housing possible for the turbo. IIRC for every 1psi of boost its like a 7% increase in power or something like that on a gasser. i might be wrong, but i think if you could get around 8-10 psi in the ranger you would be flying. LoL

The size of the turbo probably wouldn't be much issue. You have to remember that gassers have a lot more RPM's so they move more air thru the engine. A lot of gassers are using HX50 size turbo's. But mounting would be problematic. I would go down to the turbo/supercharger forum here and ask the question.

He could always through a small cummins in there like that one boy did . If there was a turbo out there for a Ranger I would be interested in it for my 4.0 DD Ranger .

even with the smal housing you wont spool it up, nto enough motor there. and even if you did get a turbo to fit the motor the 3.0 engine cant handle boost. you will melt down in no time. specificly the heads. also the fuel system cant handle it either so custom injectors and programming would be needed. been there, tried it. he's better off buying an old turbo-coupe. they are easy to tune into the 13's with no problems.

LOL sorry for the disappointment guys. See i was thinkin along the lines of Tim that his gasser is turnin a lot more RPM's so it would flow enough air, possibly. But i also dont want to be the reason he blows his truck (if you can call it that) up, and if you've been there and done that Joe i will just send this idea into the scrap heap.

Thanks everyone.
