Squeaky truck

My driver side front suspension is squeaking like crazy. It isn't a rotational sound as it even makes noise when the truck is stopped when I step out of it. I greased the bushings on the upper and lower control arms as well a lubed up the shock bushings. I also greased the upper and lower ball joints. After all of that I still got the same squeak. When I lay under the truck and push it up and down it almost seems like it is coming from the shock, but I have never had a shock squeak before. Have any of you ever heard of this problem? Can shocks squeak?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am at my whit’s end trying to figure this out.

They sure can. The only way to know for sure is to take it out and see if the squeak goes away.

What seems to be the most common cause of sqeeking in the front end is the lower ball joints. I have replaced one of my lowers twice as the replacment ended up sqeeking even after being greased. Another place to consider is the bushings and links on the stabilizer bar.

I just changed out my sway bar link bushing yesterday, much quieter now. My problem was easy to spot, the bolts that hold the links on were dangling under the a-arms due to the bushings completely separating and falling off. I hope that is your problem, very easy to fix yourself compared to ball-joints.

Ditto-ball joints

I had the same problem on my '01 after only ~40,000 miles...squeaking sound from the front when i did as little as leaned against the truck! Dealer replaced the ball joints (upper and lower) under extended warranty. No more squeaking...
