If it were the injector the problem would follow the injector. So if it was number 6 then you put 6 into cylinder number 4 and it smoked until you unplugged number 4 now then the injector is the issue.
Is that what happened or did the issue stay with number 6?
If it stayed with number 6 even though you moved the injector there is either a mechanical issue with that cylinder (no compression) or there is an electronics issue holding that injector open.

Pull the valve cover and take a straight edge and lay it across the solinoids. If the problem stayed in #6 most likely the nozzle seal (copper washer)stayed in the injector bore from the old injectors. The straight edge will show this. That will cause issues similar to this. Just a shot. Or, there has to be a problem in the injector itself. But if it stayed in the cylinder, inspect the injector cup very closly for cracks or the copper washer. Just my .02

has to be elec as in idm or frayed wires. check the wire harnes as it rund over the driver valve cover and inspect all of it. if you have access to a scan tool run an injector electrical test. if you dont you could try idling the truck with the valve cover off and use a stethescope (screwdriver) on the solonoid to see if its staying open or if its pulsing.
