What engine will fit 1976 F150 Supercab

I have a 1976 F150 Super Cab. I am thinking of putting in a 6 cyl 4.9L...will it fit? What other motors will fit?

most motors will fit in any vehicle as long as you have the correct motor mounts.

for example some people put a chevy engine into a ford. or a chevy engine into a jeep. my dad's friend wants me to put a 350 chevy into a VW bug.

so, as long as you have the right motor mounts and the transmission will hook up any engine will fit.

engine families: 240/300, 302/351W and 351C, 351M/400, 360/390, 429/460

Hell yeah, anything will fit, I put a Dodge engine & auto tranny in my '67 Jeep Gladiator 6 cyl. 4 speed pickup years ago, just had to make motor mounts, a cooling radiator for the tranny(Made it from a old a/c radiator) a driveshaft and alt. brackets........."you can do anything you put your mind to" my mom always used to say. Rest her soul.

It is actually a 1976 Ford Explorer Long Bed(Super Cab is embossed on the window glass). Will all accessories and relative transmissions on those engines available: 300 I-6 / 302 2V / 360 2V / 390 2V / 390 4V / 460 4V. Work with out any major modifications?

Main worry is what it came out with and what is available today, can't wait to get started. I will post a pic of this old hunter green(maybe color) classic shortly.

Well the Transmission youll have to get to match the engine that you put in, for example the SB 302 will need a different transmission than say the 390FE motor which is yet different from the 300 4.9L motor ..
Again the brackets and what not are specific to each motor.. now the alternator and PS pump will prolly swap over, provided you change the brackets out.. (the PS pump bracket is two pcs one on the block, one on the pump)

Question means... will I need to do a lot of customization, besides the drive shaft(If I chose a motor out of a car). Where is the best place to take measurements from for engine and all accesories ie. radiator and all the other stuff?

once again it depends on the size of the engine and if you get a FE engine or not. if you do get the 300 then you have to get 240/300 motor mounts.

I don't know about the 2nd question.
