What is it for?

I know it is an O-Scope and when I hook 12 VDC to it I get the straight green line across the screen and if I touch one of the probes the line jumps.
I am guessing it was made by SUN or Snap-On as the tag is missing.
I think it plugs into a test box of some sort.
Is this what SUN had before they came out with Ignition scopes?

It looks to me like it could be testing welders. TiG or possibly even mig to verify the freq of the output. Maybe even old generators (pre-alternator) to see how many cycles were being produced.

The input terminals look huge, much to large for common testing. I would like to have an oscilloscope, mostly for Stereo work. If will work on smaller scales, it is a handy piece of equipment to have on hand. You can check Alternators for bad diodes, (one or two ripples instead of three), Coil or injector frequency, to make sure the power company is sending you 120v at 60hz, the list goes on.

I got it at an auction and I thought when I got it that it was strobe light but after I got it home it turned out to be some sort of a O-Scope.

The previous owner was deceased and he had own a Ford Tractor Dealership then he had a Snap-On route for a while and later owned a Green Light Auto Parts store. It was mostly and auto tools (Snap-On mostly new) and equipment auction. There was a lot of very old Sun and Snap-On test equipment with some Hunter.
Not sure what to do with it.

If you want some place to store, I'd hold on to it for you.

It's a great tool to check anything you would with the AC switch on your DMM. Freq and Amplitude can be handy, it's just the graduations I would be concerned with.
