I just remembered this, one of the towns uses coal sinders on their roads. It works pretty well, but instead of the snow being the crappy brown that it does become, it is a crappy black mess.

That would stink... There is something about a fresh white snow covering the ground.. At least the first of the season.. After that I can do without it..

It's almost time to start reminding Ken of the coming snows..

I don't know the offical tally, but we usually get about 10 - 15 storms per year.. Most are in the 3-6 inch range with maybe 4 of the a foot or more..

Last year most of the storms were nusance storms 1-3 inches..

So it sound like you get pretty much the same that we do, except that we average somewhere between 115-130" per season. Where I live, I usually get quite a bit of lake effect snow off from Lake Ontario seeing that it is about 15 miles north of me. I can also get some lake effect off from Lake Erie, but the winds really need to be cranking for that to happen. Now for example, last winter we had about 2' of snow over a 2 day period that was all lake effect. We had back in March '93 a big storm that dumped about 3 1/2' on us over a two day period.
