Funny - you said the same thing a guy did on the cummins forum in my thread over there.

Here is my reply to him:

For what I do with them they are perfect. They cost a 1/3 of what the "good" ones do and last over 1/2 as long so why not? Sure I order/buy them more often - but they still end up costing less

Did a little more work again last night. Again I was messing with the supercab (putting lift coils in) so I didn't have a ton of time for the crew. I wanted to get this thing kinda wrapped though so I could put the crew back on it's wheels. I still need my buddy to cut the end plates for me - but I gotta roll it around this weekend - so it will be good like this for now.

Only got "finished" pics of last night as I was kinda hauling but to get it done before it got too late and I forgot to stop and take pics before paint.

The "just cuz I added it at the last minute" gussets

The plan is to hopefully have it running by the end of October. I am VERY bad with making my goals on having this thing running though - so I'm not counting on it. I will just be pleasantly surprised if I pull it off....

Hey Steven... I feel your pain brother! I was just saying to my wife that I'm done setting goals on my project, cuz I just keep disappointing myself.

It's hard to focus on the crew with the supercab here and needing love. I NEED to focus though - as I REALLY need to get this thing running!

Spent all Saturday re-organizing so no progress on the crew - and only a TINY bit on the supercab...

I needed to roll the crew out this weekend so I could get to some parts and re-organize the shop. Therefore I put this thing together... Still waiting on my buddy to cut those plates so I can finish it - but close enough for now!

Thinking the Government stimulus plan is working is like thinking that taking water form the deep end of a pool and dumping it in the shallow end will raise the water level of the pool.

That is the d44 I took out. Ed (75F350) isn't done with the d60 yet - and the guy I sold the d44 to was nice enough to let me keep it here for a week or 2 so I could roll the truck around to do that.

I can feel this thing getting closer!!!! A few nights of decent work and I should have the motor back in, etc!

yes the d60 will be MUCH cooler. I am trying to be patient though as I know Ed is a busy guy and is helping a lot more people build stuff - so he might not have a ton of time for my 60...

As for the press - yup it's a HF. It's the 20 ton. Just another cool craigslist find I grabbed for like $40

Ok - back on topic.

I had another decent night last night and made some progress again. Like last week - most of the time was spent on the supercab as I am still getting it up to par for going to vegas. Last night I got the autofab beams and radius arms ready to go on. Hopefully I'll get those bolted up tonight.
Here's a pic of the new and old welding tables in use with the beams on them. Old table is nice for getting these heavy beasts onto as it is lower...

after that was done it was too dark to work on the supercab which is parked out in front of the shop, so I went back to the crew.

I got the pass. side frame support thing for the front leaf hanger done. I meant to take more pics as I went but I kept forgetting. So, you guys just get 1 half way through pic and then a "finished product with wet paint" pic

I started the shackles last night.

Starting of the shackles

Ends turned down and tubes cut and partially notched

Tacked and clamped to the table to prevent warping

Welding started

so i take it you did copy and paste from another forum....

so what front springs are you using now that your engine weighs a good amount more the old one.

yup - forgot to fix that. It's fixed now...

stock springs. They were stiff with the 360 and from what others have said they only lost maybe 1" of ride height with the cummins in their truck - so I'm trying it in hopes that the new motor will make the springs will ride better

I think the big block springs will work nicely.
