What'cha decide to do with that hole in the frame on the pass side? To tube or not to tube is the question.

Yup

As for the hole - notice in the 2nd to last pic in my last post that the inside of the hole is now shiny???? Yup - leaning up to be welded as I think I've decided to weld a tube in the thing.

It's not what the majority suggested, but then again my truck is not like the majority of trucks out there. I like being different

Thinking the Government stimulus plan is working is like thinking that taking water form the deep end of a pool and dumping it in the shallow end will raise the water level of the pool.

no plan yet. I just figured if I was making this thing I might as well have one. They are nice to back in trailers, and for recovery. For now I think it will have a license plate holder stuffed in it like Ed's....

if you are talking about the front cevicer hitch, i thought about doing that on my truck but i just think it would cut down to much of the cooling....

I have seen people attach a winch to the hitch so they can use it in the front or in the back. And the idea of having your license plate on the hitch is cool also .

Not sure where the spare is going but it will definitely NOT be going in front of the grill. Blocks too much airflow to the intercooler. Plus I am not a fan of that look.

Mine will either go in the bed or on a chase rack like this (I will be making one for the truck)

As for the winch - I thought about that. But I want a tow truck type 20k lb. winch and they almost take 2 people to pick up - so moving it from front to back would be a little difficult...

That and 99% of those are hydraulic if not chain driven (early Holmes 750) and HUGE. The ones on the rollbacks and regular wreckers are 8K-12K typically. But, a 20k drag winch would be awesome.

here are some pics from last night.

I'm starting on the frame supports while I wait for my buddy to cut the final plates for the leaf hangers.

Remember the 7/16's bolts from earlier in the build? They will be the base for these...

Bottom plate and top plate seen here

Tube connecting the 2. Part of the upper structure is not in yet obviously.

Tube fitment. They will get welded tonight. I hope to have both sides done...

Ok so apparently some small minded people dont understand that the truck in this signature is a combination of many sarcasims. Please quit being stupid and study up before you run your mouth about it.

thanks guys!

Some people say I have too many tools. I always complain I don't have enough!!!!

In all honesty - a lot of this can be done with a MINIMAL tool count - it just takes a little longer. Many of my tools perform the same tasks as others - just quicker in certain scenarios.

If you want a list of "can't live without" or "my favorite" tools - just ask and I'll let you know

That being said - here are a few bling pics of last nights work!

some more welding

a little bit further along

trying to keep some strength in this yet still clear the bolts and sockets

welded up

painted and in

started other side - should hopefully finish tonight
