How about this one then...

It's taken me a month to make a freakin seat mount - how long do you think it would take me to do a 4 link?????

That is why I am putting it off for now - hahahaha

Plus I just want to get this thing driving so I can start on my 74 2wd supercab. It's almost been a year since I started this thing. Even though I took a few months off to move the shop that is still too long to take on this swap

The real question is, how would it take you to do a single link 4 times?

Always looking good man, wish I had the space and money to do what you're doing. . .guess I will have to just deal with my little project

I must have everyone fooled. I really don't have the $$ - I find deals on EVERYTHING I have bought for this and every other project I have.

Buying and selling tools and parts pays for the projects. The shop is a temporary deal since I lost the place I was in. Instead of a 2 bedroom house with a yard and garage to build in I have this shop and a bedroom

Well, I'm very good at finding deals myself and that's the only way I've been able to keep on working on my junk

I'm a connoisseur of other peoples trash

If I could figure out how to make money at this to fund my projects then I would be set and wouldn't have to dig into the paychecks too much. . .but I guess, money issues are different for different people. When I was contemplating this swap I was able to locate a turbo cummins for $900 but even that is just too much for me to spend on just a motor. Especially in an involved swap such as this it just adds up to quickly and I'm back to bread sandwiches

Time and Money are the arch enemies of hobbies!! If you have time you do not have money and you can't spend it on your project and vice-versa.

Luckily I have been able to turn a bunch of parts for these thigs recently which funds more fun! I do dip into my savings for some splurges now and again - but I try and keep this stuff self funding.

Yeah Brady - I finally got an axle - I'm excited about it too

As for the "too many irons in the fire" - you've been to the shop Brady - you know darn well I do that too!!!!!

I was wrapping up the seat mount this weekend and then hangin out with Ed a bit when he came by to grab the axle so not a ton got done. I did get the old d44 out of the truck though!

Now it's time to start fabbing up the new front spring hanger. I will be dropping the leaf pivot 1" to gain just the slightest bit of lift. The main idea is to make the front cross member BEEFY and add a 2" receiver at the same time.

Here's a little view of part of the cad file

Wow, that's the same exact type of parts truck I have for my '78 Bronco project. '91 W250, nonintercooled 5.9. Your motor looks a lot nicer than mine though, new york winters really tear up the paint and aluminum surfaces.

That's going to be a nice truck!

Are you buying the frame mounts from fordcummins, or making them?

Thanks. Not much left of the truck at all. The motor is sitting here along with the gas tank, steering column and some of the wiring harness. All else has been sold.

As soon as I verify that this 94 motor is good to go this 91 will be booted too.

Now I just need to get some work done and finish this dang thing already

I sold the trans from the dodge, still trying to sell the dana rear. (Is that a 70?) to help buy the adapter and flexplate from destroked. I was going to buy the stuff from fordcummins, because it's cheaper, but I don't like what I was reading about the necessity of "trimming" the block(!) and bellhousing.
To save money, I guess I'll make my own frame mounts.

Rear is a 70. If you had an auto trans in the thing you'd have 3.08 gears and those are a special deal. Do a search over on www.cummins-forum.com about them. The command real $$ (sold mine for $500) if you have the 3.08s...

I wouldn't buy from Fordcummins either. From what I've seen from pics of their work my girlfriend could fab better just from dating me for 4 years and asking "so whatcha doin" and looking over my shoulder 1/2 the time.

Destroked is a different story - but their prices still seem REALLY high for what you get.

Yes, the parts truck is a 2wd with auto trans, so I guess it has the 3.08s in it. I'm glad you told me that it's worth something, I was growing impatient with it sitting there, and may have just scrapped it with the truck. Thanks.

They can be very hit and miss but guys who know who they are and need them will pay dearly for them. I had multiple offers to just buy the gears themself, but I didn't feel like taking the thing apart...
