Engine Block Id: C1AE 8015 K Six banger

Hey,

I'm trying to determine what size engine this little six banger really is. I presumed it was 223, and picked up a new thermostat for that model, but it didn't fit. That left me curious if the motor has been swapped from the original that came in my son's F100. Anyone have a clue?

what side of the motor is the intake/exhaust manifold on? That can lead you to what engine family it is from.

1948/66 car & truck thermostats

Welcome to FTE

The casting number is actually C1AE-6015-K, not 8015.

Just because it has a car casting number prefix, doesn't mean the block was only used in cars, it was used in trucks, also.

This is true regardless of what the casting number is for any just about any part.

> > The reason the thermostat (t/stat) doesn't fit is...before 1965/66, Ford t/stats were larger in diameter. The one you bought prolly is 2 1/8."

You need a t/stat that has a flange diameter of 2 1/2"

A8AZ8575D .. 160 Degree T/stat ~ 2 1/2" (Motorcraft RT16)

or

A8AZ8575E .. 180 Degree T/stat ~ 2 1/2" (Motorcraft RT18)

NAPA can cross the Motorcraft numbers over to the brands they sell.

If you can't find one locally, here's who has some:

greensalescompany.com in Cincinnati, OH as 44 of A8AZ8575D and 47 of A8AZ8575E: 800-543-4959

Miller Obsolete Parts in Binghamtom NY has 36 of A8AZ8575D and 8 of A8AZ8575E: 800-546-7278

EDIT: Closer to your home: Dennis Carpenter, located in Concord NC, shows on his NOS parts website that he has 11 of A8AZ8575D & 1 OF A8AZ8575E: 704-786-8139

Engine Block Id: C1AE 6015 K Six Banger

Thanks for helping me with the Thermostat. As you suggested I was able to acquire the right fit and the install went without a hitch. By the way, for my curiosity, what is the Cubic Inch of the C1AE 6015 K?

Thanks for your help.

It's prolly a 223.

Measuring the stroke is the only way to know for sure.

223 = 3.60" / 262 = 4.03"

So after reasearching this casting number I found on my block, I to have a question and after seeing your reply sir I believe you may have the answer. I transplanted a 223 block into my f100 which is a 1960. The head from the casting number in this thread (C1AE-6015-K) has a huge crack in it so I need another. The reason I transplanted this engine into it was because I threw a rod in the orginal engine. The head was still good but when I tried to bolt it up the bolts were to small for the threads in the new block. and the bolts that came out of the block would not fit through the head of my old engine. Its my understanding that past 62 the heads and blocks were slightly diffrent, but then this is from a 61? Any help in what head im really after would be fantastic. Thank you

Not a direct answer to your question, but if it's a 262 you can tell by looking: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...s-a-223-a.html
