Hello,i have a 2001 ranger 4x4 the problem is sometimes it will switch into 4 wheel drive and sometimes it wont just hear clicking noise, can anyone help,i'm preety sure it doenst have a vaccum, thanks, kevin
This may sound like a dumb question, but is this just when you shift into 4-high or 4-low? If 4-low are you putting the truck in neutral before shifting into 4-low?
It does it in 4-hi and 4-lo sometimes it will go in a sometimes it won't,i have been reading some about it and they also say clean the motor.it did go about 8 months without getting used, can you tell me the best way to get the motor off.thanks, kevin
Oldred2000 i am going to pull the motor on mine as soon as possible hopefully this weekend (new baby keeping me busy)i will let you know what i find out.if you pull yours let me know,by the way i found the motors on ebay for alot cheaper price, are they as good or is it a get what you pay for thing, anyway i can going to try to clean mine first.thanks kevin
Ok i put a new shift motor on and still no 4 wheel drive the lights doesnt blink, all i hear when i try to put it in 4 wheel drive is a click from the control module located behind the passenger side kick panel.need help on this one.thanks
Olso forgot to add that when i switch to 4 wheel drive the motor moves back and forth,it doesnt move enough to engage the 4 wheel drive,so yeah the motor is moving but still won't go into 4 wheel drive.
It is like the motor is surging.i have taken thr 4x4 control module off and it doesnt look burnt anywere, but there is some green corosion on the prongs were the connecters plug in.
Ok i finally got it fixed tonight it was a prong broke off of the plug that goes to the motor, bypassed the wire and it works great now,but if anyone is interested i stoped by the local junkyard and picked up a used 4x4 control module part#1L54-7h417-ac if anybody needs one i have it and i checked to see if it was good.As for the motor it was easy to replace.thanks for everyones help.kevin
What did they get you for the motor? Between cleaning up from IKE and cutting firewood, I've been pressed for time. I'm keeping you in mind,,, case I need it.
