I dont think you CAN sleeve a 7.3 block...

edit: there is a company that sleeves them , but 7.3's as well as lots of others, even 5.9's are parent bore, no sleeves.

Check Ebay, auto wreckers, AUTO TRADER, it might be cheaper buying an entire truck than the block.

Find a late 85, 86 or 87 6.9, you will be happier in the long run.

A 6.9 can be bored without using sleeves.

Standard over size pistons are 20 30 and 40 over, 40 over leaves the cylinder wall 70 thou thicker than a 7.3 was stock.

Hey George, been a while. Your HHO thread has really taken off while you were gone.

With a 7.3 theres just no way of knowing what you are getting. A bare block is also not likely to be able to just drop in without some work either.

I would try to get a 6.9 in there instead, Even if its stock just to get you by.
Is this the cavatated engine you are dealing with?

Yeah my engine is cavitated threw the #3 hole the wired thing is all the old timers said I would see big pock marks on the cylinder wall looking threw the coolant passages but I don't I think some one may have poored some block seal in befor i got it.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while but I don't have internet where I'm living I'm visiting my parents in California now.

I'll have to check out the car parts.com thing. I would like to stay with a 7.3 if I could find a decent block since i already have all the insides im my junk block.

What could be swaped to a 6.9 from the 7.3? I know the IP, injectors intake and turbo would all work and the exaust should work If i had a 6.9 would all i have to do is bore it put oversised pistons in new bearings head gaskets and head studs? or am I missing some stuff?

2000 Ford F350 Super Duty Truck - 7.3 Diesel Engine

I'd buy it just for the turbo but i'm not sure it'd work with my idi.

The turbo could be made to work on yours but the time and money and end result ypu'd be better off with an ATS kit. And it looks like the engine would be pretty expensive to get running again unless you had a truck with the same engine that blew up. New wiring harness UVC harnes valcover gaskets lift pump fule lines. Maybe even melted some injectors. Judging from the rust all over what are normally painted surfaces I would guess that the engine had flame right on it and got realy toasty.

Yes I do.

As I say that, I also have to remind you the the speedometer only went to 99,999.9 before it went to 00,000.0.
So 60,000 may not be a correct number.

If you hold off, I might just have a block for you, I was rebuilding mine till I found my heads weren't any good, so now I'm going to build the 6.9 I have.

I bought a bunch of parts (maybe 2 disassembled engines?) last year from a Californian who couldn't handle the snow in CO and was selling out and moving back. I've got a block, that on a quick look looked ok, that I probably don't need (my girlfriend would say Definitely don't need) and could sell if you can't find one local. I would hate to sell it to you, and have you pay $$$ for shipping to find out there is a problem with it. If your interested, I could look at it a little more closely to see if I can spot any problems with it and determine if it is 7.3 or 6.9 block. I've got a lot of other parts cams, flywheels, cranks, pistons, heads pistons etc as well.

I'd check Craig's List.

If I had somewhere to put all of it I could have started my own IDI graveyard with all of the CHEAP blocks, engines and trucks I've seen on there.

There is 2 1992 7.3l on ebay right now. He says you get one engine and one trans starting bid is 500.00. Might be worth watching eBay Motors: ford 7.3 non turbo desiel and auto trans (item 170260599363 end time Sep-12-08 17:44:31 PDT)

Quick question I have a 97 ford f superduty and the issue I've been having is the truck stalling and loosing fuel I've changed everything I possibly could and or should Icp valve etc all sensors the fuel tank and fuel sender everything I've just been told sounds like the truck is getting air in the system and I need too change the fuel bowl valve which drains the fuel out of there just wanna know if that's the case from the pros point of view.
