don, that is an incredible truck!!!!!!!! finally, something "older"!! awesome flattie!!
Well, Thank you.
This truck was originally sold at the Ford dealer in Fullerton CA. (about 20 miles from where I live in Long Beach) and was owned by the same famiy until I bought it in 1997. It hadn't been driven since 1965 but was registered until 1986. It was very complete and had almost no rust.
I tore it completely apart, had the frame powder coated as well as most of the suspension and brake parts. I replaced the 21 stud flatty with a 24 stud bored out to 3 5/16 and a 4 inch Mercury crank. Its running polished Navarro heads, Original Thickstun manifold, two 97's, Harmon and Collins distributor w/ Pertronix inside, and an alternator that looks like a generator. The Winfield grind cam sounds BADASS!
The tranny is a 39 Ford box with Lincoln Zephyr gears. The rear is a Columbia two speed with 4:11 in low and 3:20 in high. Great freeway cruiser.
I am a bodyman by trade so I did all the body work and paint prep. Pilo Valejo one of the the painters at our shop sprayed the BASF black urethane. The mahoghany wood in the bed has several coats of BASF automotive clear.
I've had a ball driving it all over California to car shows and it has been featured in Rodders Journal #16 and Custom Classic trucks magazine.

VERY NICELY DONE! Well thought out little sweety you have there. The Columbia brings it all together.
[sound of hands clapping in recognition, appreciation and more than a little envy]

Send a post his way....it is an awesome truck. And he's got to be hurting!
I halfto throw it in

1st off 41inWV our thoughts with you and your family
Got her back
Not the prettiest but its mine and I am proud
Though my days be short
My shortcomings long
And my grief overwhelming -
I trust you
Guide me and care for me
I may be slow, and sometimes fall short
But I know you will keep my loved ones beside you
So that we can be together again one day
For my part I say thank you!
Until we meet, I will do my best here as I am
Most holy one -
In Jesus name I pray

-That having been said, how are you holding up brother?
*It isn't what we say out loud, but what we think that matters. Our THOUGHTS are prayers, and that is why the bible is strict about that point. Edgar Cayce had the same thing to say about it in his sleep
The power of belief itself is a very strong force, never to be disregarded.

Doing MUCH better than I expected, Nan helped give us a beautiful day for her Celebration services, well over a hundred twenty five friends and almost 50 street rods came out. It was quite a sight. She was in her glory.
God Bless everyone who reads here, and my sincere wishes for everyone to enjoy the very happiest holidays.
OK, guys, here is my entry for the contest, Old Betsy, my 1954 F-100.
My most recent picture taken Nov 22, 2008. We had 6 inches of snow so I had to get it out.
This last year's Christmas card picture.
This from 2 years ago when my truck was used to carry 4 little groomsmen at an outdoor wedding of a friend.
This is a picture taken in 1998 just before it went into the body shop.
This was taken in 1977, the same year I bought my truck from my grandfather. It was my senior year in college and our soccer team won the Div III National Championship so we had a parade for the team and most of the guys piled in my truck!
This a recent interior shot of my truck. I have tried to keep the truck as stock as possible, so it looks like it did when my grandfather bought it on December 23, 1854.

Steve, you are in my prayers. I don;t know what I would do. I know your faith will help you get through this and your truck will keep her memory alive.
