back pressure sensor and engine light

hey everyone my 97 psd has its check engine light on,when i read the codes it says the ebp has low input it runs fine but its very annoying to look at that light. it also doesnt do this constantly only every now and then i will chesk the codes again but i dont know.

There is a tube that comes from the bottom of that sensor and goes to the passenger side exhaust manifold. Take that one off and clean it out. Chances are it is rotted and has a hole in it. What month was your '97 made? If it is a late '97 I have the pics and part #'s of the tube you need in my pics in sig.

That is where I would start first. Also the sensor may be bad too.

the ebp sensor wont set a light, just a code. is it a california emissions truck?

well i just checked the trouble codes i had three all for the ebp sensor one was for high input one for low and one was circut error. fuse?

Do you still use the back pressure valve or is it disabled? If you dont use it you can just get a simulator to plug into the harness instead of the sensor. Any other codes besides the 3 for the EBP sensor? Ive never seen either the sensor or the valve set a CEL.

i believe it is enabled, no other codes and the really wierd part is that the light turns off when the engine is warm.

sorry update i will be pulling the sensor tomorrow and checking it i drove around 100 miles sunday with no problem after the engine warmed up however monday as soon as i started to drive it in the morning check engine light and white smoke just wondering about a bad glow plug

White smoke could be from bad GP. Did it do it long or just a second. some smoke is normal. CEL I would scan the codes

well it was when i first started it alot once when i got on it revin it up however, got a new code today p0603 internal control mod KAM error. possible cause of problem? also noticed in my book that there were codes for the individual glow plugs should one have a problem is that for these trucks or the 2nd gen powerstrokes only?

sorry, one more note I tightened two nuts on the glow plug controller check engine light went on and off then stayed off and i have seen the p0603 on rare occasions not every time the light was on
