Route 66 Rendezvous... Anyone going?

19th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous

This is an awesome event if you are into classic cars, trucks... anything.
Check out the link above.
The open headers contest is unbelievable.

I would love to register my '66 Mustang, but she is not show worthy yet...

I was told by the organizers of the event, that because my truck wasn't pristine, I couldn't be a part of the festivities, so I've yet to attend.

Man, thats a bummer. Come to think of it, every car that you see there is in 'pristine' condition.
In my opinion, it would be nice to see a few less-than-perfect cars/trucks, like a work in progress or something. Not everyone has the money to make their classics pristine, I know I don't. It costs enough just to keep the old horse running.

I guess there is a place for that. Kind of like a juried show. In the arts and crafts world, there are open shows which are open to all comers, and juried shows where a jury decides what is appropriate for their show.

They should be open and up front about what kind of show it is to be to avoid insulting or embarassing applicants.

We won't be back in town until the 20th, so I'll pass on this one.
