Question What's This? Idaho HAS NO CHAPTER LEADER?

Any volunteers to step up and lead the great state of Idaho?

Hey thats pretty good!

I'm sure that once the chapter gets a leader things would pick up.

Heck, after you have been a member on FTE for 60 days, you can be the leader.

I might be interested.
It depends on how much work is involved.

I checked out Stevebricks link, any other feedback from a chapter leader would be nice.

The thing that would take the most time for a chapter leader would be keeping the chapter active, making it interesting for the members by posting and replying to posts in the chapter.

Approving new membership requests doesn't take much time, but you must be visible on your chapter.

I'll get some of the current CL's to post up their opinions here for you and others who may be considering the position.

No problem jwshobe, some of the current chapter leaders will post in this thread for you.

BTW, add your first name to your signature, makes it easier for this old to communicate with you. lol

Loved every minute of it being able to start a chapter from the beginning! The members were great helping whenever they were asked.

George hit on the most difficult aspect of the job, and the only part of it that I would consider "work".

Getting folks interested might not be too difficult, but keeping that level of interest is much more difficult. If you like people and are not afraid to devote a fair amount of your time to the task, you will be successful.

There is a forum for chapter leaders only on FTE where we share ideas and strategies that we all use to accomplish this, so you would have that support group to help you along.

It's difficult at first and can be frustrating, but as things begin to come together you will feel a sense of accomplishment that makes it worth the effort.

If you have any questions about this that you don't want to post, feel free to PM me and if I don't know the answer I'll get it for you.

Thanks for the post in the general forum, got my attention. I went looking to see what was going on, and then I found George was already here...
Anyway, realistically, just encourage activity, chat, hang out, whatever you would normally do to gain interest. It takes time, so don't worry about it, it won't happen overnight... It also goes in spurts, while the weather is nice, the activity goes down. Of course, you have typically better weather out that way... (my sister lives in Boise, once in a while I get to wander out that way...) Hard no, heart breaking, it can be, until you figure some things out about the dynamics of it all. Hey George, does it count that I also am the first CL for the Iowa group? They don't seem to want to get rid of me yet, been about 3-4 years now... Just stay active on the boards, and do what you can to get the offline meets. After that, it is what you make it, (and others of course...)

Roger all of the CL's are No. 1 in my book!

My belief is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
